Hi all
i have unfortunately miscarried and will be choosing medical management next week as my body has not shown any signs of trying to remove the pregnancy.
i will be 9 weeks when I take the tablet/get the pessary but the baby stopped growing at around 6.5 weeks.
i am feeling anxious about the pain, level of bleeding and whether i will pass anything recognisable.
i think i am dealing with the situation well at the moment, but i think that first show of blood is going to be really upsetting.
any guidance or experiences would be so appreciated
thank you

Hi,

so sorry you’re experiencing this. I too had a MMC at 9 weeks 6 days, I chose medical management and had the tablet followed next day as an inpatient with a pessary.

I too was really worried about the pain / blood etc, all I will say is that nothing happened for about 3 hours and then I started bleeding following by some heavier and I passed a lot of tissue which was later confirmed was the baby.

I was able to go home later that day once I had passed most of the tissue and it followed with some bleeding for around 2 weeks.

it actually all went smoothly, I had some pain relief but found it like a strong heavy period, it’s very confronting seeing the process but also I found it helped me find a bit of closure.

i really hope all goes smoothly for you and if you have any questions please ask away

Sorry this has happened to you, Its so awful. I had medical management a couple of weeks ago. I found the pain was intense - it was pelvic and lower back for me rather than cramps but I didn’t need as much pain relief as the doctor had implied I might so took paracetamol but didn’t take the stronger stuff. Bleeding started a few hours after the tablets, I had them at home. I had the chills, felt sick and had an upset stomach. Then pain for a while and then would go to the loo and have a gush of blood and then clots come out. Some were quite big and shocked me in the moment. This happened a few times. I didn’t really look at the clots as mostly in the loo. It all stopped when I went to bed and then light bleeding the next day. In the evening I had cramps and bigger clots. Then spotting for a week and have had some more bleeding yesterday and today but Epu say that’s OK.

I’m so sorry for your loss, it is an awful time. I have had a MMC this week and went through with medical management two days ago.

I was 12 weeks but baby was measuring around 8 weeks - I had quite a lot of pain and took all the painkillers I was given by the nurse which really helped. The painkillers also made me quite drowsy which helped with the emotional side of things. Similarly to the other comments above, I went to the loo when I felt I was in pain and passed large clots. The bleeding is still going on two days later but the clots have now passed I think. I was scared I would be able to identify a baby in what I passed but honestly it all just looked like large clots.

I had a miscarriage years ago at 6 weeks and the pain and bleeding was much less than it was this time, so hopefully it won’t be as bad for you because it has happened slightly earlier but obviously everyone is different.

If you need any support or want someone to talk to please feel free to message me - it is a horrible time and I understand all of the emotions you are probably feeling.

Wishing you all the best x

@givemeyourexperience I am so sorry for your loss.
My 2nd miscarriage was a missed miscarriage at the start of this year. I was also 9weels but was measuring between 5-6weeks and I chose medical management.
I was allowed to take my tablets home and take ass everything at home. After the first dose of the tablets I had extreme shakiness which lasted about 30 minutes (the EPU told me this can be a reaction that some women experience) I needed a 2nd dose of meds to start my bleeding which I did after few hours and it took 3 days for me to start passing the pregnancy tissue, the cramps were intense for the first few days but subsided to mild after that. I did bleed for about 3 weeks. Physically I felt extremely fatigued those first couple of weeks but mentally for me personally I am very much still struggling.

I am so so sorry you are going through this. It’s absolutely devastating, take the best care of yourself and I hope you have good support around you. ❤️
