Still faint line after miscarriage 3.5 weeks later

Hey everyone,
I had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks, baby stopped growing at 6 weeks. I had 5 days of bleeding and then had a scan a couple of days later which showed all the pregnancy tissue had gone.

I had a nice decline in darkness of pregnancy tests until about a week ago. They’re very very faint but have been like that for a week. I am going back to hospital next week if still positive but is this normal? I know it can take weeks for them to become negative but im more worried about it hasn’t really changed in the last week. I’ll include picture!

I think you need to stop testing.

So sorry for your loss 💐
just a cautionary tale, I went to the doctors about 4 months after a D&C due to miscarriage because I was showing positive on a pregnancy test. Gp told me not to worry, that it was high hormones remaining from the previous pregnancy. That and PCOS so no periods meant that my then actual second pregnancy went unnoticed for 7 months 🫣
Maybe stop testing for a couple of weeks. I was told that my hormone levels would remain high for a little while but annoyingly I can’t remember how long for.

@TheChosenTwo @TropicofCapricorn thank you for your responses! Unfortunately I’ve been told that I need to keep testing by my early pregnancy unit. I had a appointment with them at 3 weeks and they had asked me to do a pregnancy test which I told them was faint but positive and I have another appointment with them next week at 4 weeks post and they want me to take another one before the appointment. Just wanting to be prepared. Half of me feels it’s just excess hormones and the other half of me feels it’s retained products since I haven’t had too much change in them over the last week or so. My husband and I had sex a few days ago so I also want to test until negative so I can know if it’s definitely a new pregnancy if it’s positive next week!

It's likely hormones.

Be prepared for that.

Don't get your hopes up.

Harsh, sorry but you have to be realistic. Xx

No no not harsh at all, thank you! At this stage I am desperate for it to turn to a negative. I had quite a traumatic miscarriage with heavy bleeding and ended up in hospital for a couple of days. I don’t want to go back for a D&C for retains products. I think that is why I'm testing so much as I just want a negative test as soon as possible so that I can put it all behind me. I don’t think I’ll be getting pregant again this cycle either but in the rare chance I did conceive, I want to be sure I don’t have any retained products that put me at risk for another miscarriage.

Sorry for your loss OP. Did the epu offer you to come back for a rescan to check for retained products? Especially after you mentioned you had this before and ended up in hospital. Iv been through the same, 4 losses and the first 3 had been brought back in 10 days later to check all was gone. It wasn’t offered the last time and ironically that’s when similar happened to me, I haemorrhage outside the hospital after my GP sent me over. The blue and white tests seems to be negative, the other one it may just be picking up very small amounts, I found when I was TTC and using these I got a lot of evaps etc.

Oh I am so terribly sorry for your losses. At my last appointment they said wait a week and if still positive then they might get me to come in for bloods and a scan. Im just being inpatient, I had known baby wasn’t growing properly for a while before heartbeat stopped and they officially called it a miscarriage so it’s been a long process. I forgot to mention the blue and white one was second morning urine and there still is the faintest ever line in person. I used a clearblue one this morning with first morning urine and there still was a line there but much much fainter than it was 4 days ago (with the same batch clear blue) so hopefully i’m heading in the right direction and I’ll continue with them from now on to avoid evap lines, thank you for that advice! I also had a little bit of spotting yesterday and this morning so I’m hoping that it’s the last little bit that needs to be cleared! Fingers crossed! And I hope you’ve been able to have your rainbow baby 😊

@TheBusyLemonAntgod that’s such a drawn out process too, it really prolongs the grief 🥺 sounds like heading in the right direction, it definitely took my around 3/4 weeks to get a negative test after one of my losses. I am currently 13 weeks pregnant and going good so far 🙏 I hope you get yours soon! ❤️

Really sorry @TheBusyLemonAnt my first loss it took 5 weeks to get to negative. I went back to the EPU after 4 weeks & they did a blood test which showed my levels were very low & just on the edge of showing positive. The following week it was negative. Hopefully it will be negative soon.
I’ve just had my third loss & know I’ll be worried to test next week to see if the test is negative

Im so sorru for your losses! Did the EPU say anything about when you could next try again? They told me once I had a negative at home test but then there is also different levels of sensitivity’s with them and then a blood test is obviously even more sensitive! Im hoping for your rainbow baby 🤍
