Hi everyone,
I have had a whirlwind two weeks, in which I went for an early pregnancy scan to be told no viable foetus and possible retained products of conception/partial molar pregnancy. Got referred to EPU, who did bloods which all reflected pregnancy (hcg around 9000 and then went up to above 15000 after 3 days). So not particularly high but also not low. They scanned me and said PUL, to come back again in a week. Fast forward a week and they have said it’s either retained products of conception or molar pregnancy and I’ve got to have a D&C Tuesday 😢

I am absolutely terrified. I have got two young children at home. I’ve never had general anaesthetic and am consumed with anxiety about the what ifs? Just looking for some hand holds. Also does anyone know if I could request for a local anaesthetic instead?
thanks

Hey @W1ll0WLouise hope you’re doing okay, been thinking of you X

@Boogsie sorry to hear you’ve also been through it, hope you’re in a better place now emotionally and physically X

@CrazyIsLife I think I'm currently going through another MC so I'm pretty sure I'll be back having another one before long. My body doesn't seem to be able to handle MC without a little extra help 🥺

Sending you all best wishes and love.

I had a miscarriage at 11wks, 28yrs ago. Still feels like yesterday. I had an ERPC under GA.

I have two DC now, 25 and 24, but still think of my first one who could have been.

@Boogsie I’m so sorry you’re going through this again, I hope you’ve got support around you. FWIW I don’t usually take meds or anything, but dealing with something like MC at home, along with the emotional pain, was too much to consider so I’m glad I went down the surgical route. Hopefully it means you can recover quicker too xx

@OldTinHat I don’t think I’ll ever forget this pain, but I hope in time, it will be more tolerable. You don’t realise how common it is because it isn’t really spoken about, but It’s nice to hear you had two successful pregnancies afterwards xx
