How long did it take for your period to return after miscarriage?

I was wondering how long it took for others periods to return after miscarriage.

I found out I was pregnant on the 8th July, although my last period before that started on the 19th April and I had tested at the beginning of June and got a negative so I was quite confused with the dates as this was my first pregnancy.

Sadly I miscarried towards the end of July (bleeding started on the 20th and ended a week later) I had a scan a few days after where they told me everything looked okay and that I had passed all of the tissue. My hcg levels were still high at the time but I did a test a week later and it was negative again.

I’ve felt okay since but my period still hasn’t returned yet, I’ve had some very mild cramp like pains come and go over the last couple of weeks, but still no real sign that anything is happening. I was told that my period should return in 4-6 weeks and that it could take longer but is there a point at which I should worry?

I had got my hopes up that maybe I was pregnant again but I tested this morning and got a negative.
Considering last time I was less reassured by this but I’ve been trying really hard not to get my hopes up too much as the last couple of months have been such a rollercoaster of emotions.

So sorry for what you've been through. Are there other factors that might affect your cycle e.g. pcos, low BMI, age? My period was a couple of weeks late from when I finished bleeding. x

I miscarried in December and didn't get my period until the following May.

Went on to have two lovely DC.

I had a missed miscarriage on 31/07/24 continued to bleed until until 13/08/24, and I’m still waiting for my period now. I’m the same as you had cramping but no period yet. Think it depends on the women and how far along in the pregnancy some people on here have their period straight back and others like myself don’t. As for being all over the place with your emotions, I feel the exact same. Sending love to you I know how hard it will be for you right now!!! X

With both miscarriages, my period returned after 28 days. For my first miscarriage, I started bleeding 28 days after my miscarriage bleed. With my second miscarriage, I got my period exactly 28 days after my D&C.
