Could I possibly have had a very easy miscarriage or is it likely the worse it yet to come?

Hi everyone. I sadly found out last week at 9 weeks pregnant that the baby had stopped growing at 7+3 and no heartbeat was found - so a missed miscarriage.

I was offered to wait for it pass naturally, the pills, or the surgery.

I went home to think about it and started cramping that same night - nothing too painful. I started bleeding bright red the same night but only when I wiped, though every time I sat on the toilet to pee more blood did come out (still not a lot). Barely anything came onto the pad I was wearing.

The 2nd day, something fell out of me. It wasn't painful, it looked like kind of a grey-pink-purple lump of tough tissue/flesh. Sorry, I don't know how else to describe it.

The next two days was more bright blood when I sat on toilet, some small clots, and I'd have to wipe several times but still nothing strong enough to come on pad.

It's now been 6 days since finding out and the blood has pretty much stopped, as have the cramps.

Is it possible that I successfully miscarried with very minor bleeding/pain or is it likely that the "main event" hasn't happened yet and for some reason the miscarriage has stopped progressing?

I do have a scan booked in a couple of days, and obviously when I see what's still in there I will proceed accordingly, I just want to know what I can expect.

It sounds like the miscarriage is over, tbh. The "lump" you passed was almost certainly the gestational sac. But hopefully your scan will confirm. My miscarriage was similar - I cramped for a bit until I passed the sac, then there was no more pain and not that much bleeding.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. yes it is possible that was it. I had a MC with no warning, and it all happened within a couple of hours. Hopefully scan can confirm all has cleared, and you should check for a negative test in a week.

Hi firstly I’m really sorry you are having to experience this. I have had 4 miscarriages and an early one similar to yours did pass exactly as you described. I would suggest you have passed the pregnancy but a scan and test of your HCG levels will confirm this (to make sure you have completely passed all tissue). I would like to just help you feel less anxious by saying you are probably over the worst physical pain so please don’t work yourself up thinking there will be worse pain to come. Look after yourself and remember that you won’t have done anything to cause the loss. Good luck to you and please don’t dread the scan - it’s just uncomfortable not painful. I hope this helps a bit. Take care xx
