Chemical pregnancy, now what?

LucyCL · 07/05/2024 16:53

My first pregnancy: I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and 1 day on 4/3/24. I ran really fast so it happened. Then my period came back on 3/4/24.

In March 24, I checked everything and all test results came back saying I was healthy.

My second pregnancy: I got a faint positive on 29/4/24 (10 dpo). So I took a pregnancy blood test on 30/4/24 (11 dpo) and my HCG ( Intact & Beta ) was 16 IU/L then I took another one on 2/5/24 (13 DPO), it was 45. However my line didn't get darker after 15 DPO and today is 18 DPO. I just got the result, the HCG ( Intact & Beta ) is 12 IU/L. Looks like I am having a chemistry pregnancy. I am still not bleeding yet.

For the ones who have experienced this, do you know how soon I will bleed? This is my second pregnancy which will end with the second miscarriage.

I had the impression that I would be more fertile after miscarriage and the next pregnancy would be a healthy one. However it is not the case for me.

I am feeling a bit sad and still cautiously hopeful.

If you were me, what would you do? Would you try again after you finish bleeding? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! : )

@LucyCL Hi sorry you’re going through this, I also had a loss last month at 6 weeks so will be trying again this month…

Here’s my experience with a CP:
Before my last (successful) pregnancy a couple years ago, I had a chemical pregnancy at 4.5 weeks, however at the time I thought it was implantation bleeding, but then after doing a test to make sure the line had gotten darker it had actually disappeared so realised I’d actually had a chemical. We tried again a week after this bleeding (tracked ovulation with LH tests) and fell pregnant straight away and went on to have a successful healthy pregnancy…

Sending you love and positive vibes and baby dust🥰✨❤️

Hi @LucyCL , so sorry you are experiencing this, it’s awful.

It’s cruel I know to have them back to back too. With my chemicals, it was really just like a delayed period and the bleeding started a few days later. I don’t think there’s any reason for you not to try again straight away as long as you feel up to it.

lots of luck!

Thank you so much for sharing your story and experience with me. I was not aware of CP so when it happened, I was very worried. This morning I have been watching videos about CP and successful pregnancy stories after CP so it has lifted my spirit up. How long after CP did you ovulate?
I hope you will get pregnant soon this month!!!

@LucyCL thank you, my period had just ended today so hoping to ovulate within the next week!🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 even so I’m not sure how excited I could be knowing that it could always end again😓 but hoping it goes like last time and I go on to have a successful pregnancy straight after a loss🤷🏼‍♀️

I hadn’t heard about chemicals either but figured that’s what it must have been! My lines progressed but probably not as rapidly and dark as they should have… and in regards to ovulating/conceiving again it was just like a period, I ovulated maybe 5-8 days or so after the bleeding stopped.
If you don’t have any LH tests to track ovulation I definitely recommend them! They make things so just easier to track😊 xx

Edited

I have bled little today and it is the 4th day. I feel like the bleeding will soon stop, either tonight or tomorrow. How many days did you bleed for CP? Also did you measure BBT during and after CP? Before CP, my BBT was around 37.1 and during CP, it is around 36.8 which has been quite consistent. Normally my BBT drops to 36.4 when the period comes. So my question is how long does BBT stay high after CP?

@LucyCL hi, how’ve you been today?
no I never measured BBT at all when TTC, just went off the ovulation tests so can’t help there I’m afraid. And think my CP bleeding lasted 4 days maybe…? Xx

I stopped bleeding entirely last night and it lasted for 4 days... I expected to bleed for 7 days actually because I have seen people commenting having heavier period and blood clots for 7 days on the internet. So, I am not sure of the length of bleeding of this CP. It is the shortest bleeding I've ever had but knowing you also bled for 4 days makes me feel a bit calmer. Maybe bleeding for 4 days is also normal? However does it also mean I had thinner endometrium so the fertilised egg couldn't properly develop after the implantation hence CP happened? I know I am asking lots of questions and you don't have to answer them if you don't know the answer. : ) I guess it is me being a bit anxious. After all it was my first CP. It is weird to know I was still pregnant one week ago then today I am already starting anther cycle after the bleeding. I also feel like my body is treating this CP like nothing happened (bleeding only lasted for 4 days and there is no HCG present in my body because the pregnancy test is completely negative now). I know this is a good thing however I still feel a tiny bit strange. Anyway, I started to use the LH strip and will record it every day. Thank you so much for answering my questions and sharing your experience! I really appreciate it because I know so little about CP. Hopefully we will conceive successfully this cycle which will lead to a healthy pregnancy!

@LucyCL yeah I think when it’s earlier along that the bleeding can just be a few days rather than period length as there’s not so much to lose early along….
and yeah sorry not an expert but I think these things do just happen randomly supposedly?🤷🏼‍♀️ and from these forums I’ve discovered that it’s all a lot more common than you’d think!
I always believe that everything happens for a reason, and as sad as it may be you just have to trust that this time wasn’t meant to be and maybe it saved you from complications down the line and that you’ll go on to have a healthy successful pregnancy next time ☺️🤞🏻🤞🏻
It also does seem, and from my experience, that you’re super fertile after a loss and that your body is ‘geared up’ for pregnancy! So sending you positive vibes and wishes for a successful month!
I think I’m due to ovulate any day now so hoping this is my time 🥰🤞🏻

@LucyCL 9dpo and BFN, been feeling super pregnant though!? Been nauseous, headaches, cramping in belly, couple of twinges in lower back and horrendously tired and hungry which is exactly how I always feel early pregnancy!
I’ve been pregnant 3 times before and always had a BFP at 8dpo so feeling a bit sad and worried that I haven’t got one yet but I suppose it’s still early. Kinda feel like my bodies tricking me though cos it knows I really want to be pregnant 😩

hoe about you? How you getting on? Xx

You only have to be patient for 1 - 2 more days. : ) 10 DPO was the earliest day for me to get a supper super faint positive for my two pregnancies. In your case, you might get it tomorrow! Have you been keeping yourself busy during 2WW?
This month has been a roller coaster for me physiologically and emotionally since CP happened. As you can see from my chart, my LH lines got darker then fainter for several times and my BBT has been all over the place. Had 3 LH rises. I was even self analysing the current cycle and almost was convinced that it would be an anovulatory cycle.
Yes, I love collecting data however I couldn't use the past data to predict this cycle. That was driving me crazy. There is a lovely lady who also had CP a week earlier than me so we are comparing and analysing each other's cycle (our first CPs) and it helps a lot.
Today I finally got my LH peak. So that will make 29/5/24 1 dpo for me, assuming everything goes according to plan. How long did you LH peak last after CP?
I hope you will get a BFP soon!!

Chemical pregnancy, now what?

Since CP, my LH had been fluctuating a lot and finally on CD22 I ovulated. After I got my LH peak, I was so relived. At the same time, I bought an apple watch and mira to monitor my female hormone levels and resting heart beat. Also I did a female hormone level test and a comprehensive blood test. The results show everything is normal which is good.
I have not stopped TTC however knowing that my body is back to normal makes me grateful therefore getting a BFP is less significant to me this cycle. I'd accept whatever is going to happen with calm. I hope your body returns back to normal soon!

Update:
The post CP cycle: Today is CD34 and 12 dpo, I had the most concentrated FMU of this cycle because I wanted to know when I am about to get AF.
Mira chart shows that my pdg has dropped again in one day and my BBT has dropped a bit. I did a FR just to be sure it was BFN. I am still waiting for my today's RHR to come up on my apple watch.
My luteal phase lasts for 12 days. Everything will get reset for the next cycle!
I will do a FR on 14 dpo if AF is still not here.

I just got AF!!! I am no longer in the limbo of the post CP cycle!! I am now free!! I cannot wait to see what is going to happen in this new cycle!😀 This cycle is going to be a normal one! So today is officially CD1 for me! I am so happy and RELIEVED!!!

Sending positive vibes. A few years ago I had a CP in February by April I was pregnant with twins.

Carportforme · 14/06/2024 22:38

Ladies, can I ask if anyone had a chemical where it was a pretty strong positive test one day and stark whitecthe next? Mine didnt fade at all, it just disappeared. I'm just curious as to how common this is,

No, you are the only one. All lines were getting fainter for most people who had CP. Did you do BBT? If it drops suddenly, that means you might be miscarrying.
Or the test was faulty? I had a super faint positive test one day and next day it was stark white. I was not pregnant.

No, I didnt do BBT. My test went..
Wednesday light positive on FRER
Friday 'Pregnant' on digital
Sunday very strong on a Boots test
Wednesday very strong positive on FRER
Thursday Stark white on FRER
Thursday night light spotting
Friday morning Heavy bleeding, cramping etc

I wasted too much money on testing but glad I knew it had happened to be honest.

About to ovulate again according to OPK. Going to be brave and try one last time without low dose aspirin x
