Surgery booked for Tuesday, bleeding but no clots

As the title says. Early mmc, baby seems to have stopped developing around 8 weeks. 2.5 weeks on I'm bleeding, but not enough to soak through a pad, mostly just when I wipe. I have fairly mild period type pains too. I'm booked for surgery on Tuesday and I guess I'm just wondering whether that's still appropriate. I want it to be done and dusted, mainly for practical reasons - it's DS's birthday the week after and DH will be away, and I just want to be on the road to recovery.

If I continue like this and don't have any major clots before Tuesday, do you think I should just proceed with the surgery? Or will the hospital want me to see it through naturally now it seems to have started?

I had a suspected MMC this week at 10 weeks, and it started with heavy spotting/ lots of dark fairly thick blood for a few days on wiping but not enough to really hit a pad. Then one evening it all just happened. I have never had surgery so can’t speak to that but when is the latest you could cancel? A lot can happen in a few days and you simply may not need it.

Hi @Lemonhead88, we spoke yesterday on another thread! I have to be at hospital at 7:30 on Tuesday and the clinic is open in the morning only on Monday. So I guess Monday lunchtime is the latest I can cancel in advance. However I guess maybe they're used to this sort of thing and it hopefully won't be the end of the world if I turn up on Tuesday and say I think I've passed it naturally. Maybe they'll just do a scan to check if anything is still there.

Yes I’m sure they’re totally used it! Just play it by ear and don’t stress about it. I think it’s a good idea to attend and see what they say. Hope you’re feeling ok.

@ludocris so sorry for your loss.

Same happened to me early Feb. I turned up anyway and they scanned me to ensure they didn't need to do surgery. They got me all ready for surgery though just in case.
