How long for a negative pregnancy test after surgical management?

The title says it all...
I know the doctors want to see a negative pregnancy test 3 weeks after the procedure to confirm there's no retained product, but in practice, when did you get yours?
I'm 2 weeks post surgery and still positive (although faint) and I don't see how it could get negative in a week's time...

I tested after two weeks and had a faint line, by third week it was gone!

Mine was gone 3.5 weeks after surgery...
It's surprising how quickly it can turn negative!

I think I tested 2 weeks after and it was negative.
