Got my 3rd mc looming.
last time i knew at 6 weeks, didnt mc till i was 13 weeks.
Afraid i cant do that again.
Some one mentioned that they were given some medication to speed things along, cant remember who it was tho.
Dont want surgicaal intervention, do not want to suffer weeks of waiting.

An abortion pill. This is for pregnancies up to nine weeks old and involves taking two drugs ? called mifepristone and prostaglandin ? 48 hours apart. These have the effect of causing the womb to contract and shed its lining so that the embryo is lost through the vagina. This can be painful and some women feel sick or have vomiting and diarrhoea with these drugs.

is possibly the one you were thinking of...

donbean · 23/03/2008 11:28

Yes think thats the one, she said she had to take two tabs.
I am 7 weeks so it should be ok.
There is no baby, blighted ovum, so jsut pregnancy sac.
Will have pain and distress any way, just dont want it looming for 5/6 weeks. Want it over with.
Thankyou for your help.

Do not like the sound of "abortion pill" that is bloody horrible.
Im not having an abortion, im miscarrying.

I know. I shouldn't have c&p'd that bit. Sorry.

But I wanted you to be aware that the one I was thinking of is more directed at inducing an abortion - in case it is something different that you were thinking of IYSWIM.

Sorry for you loss and sorry for my insensitivity

donbean · 23/03/2008 11:34

no worries, not offended at all x

donbean, sorry to hear you're going through another miscarriage. Lots of us have had the medical intervention - pills taken 2 days apart to induce the miscarriage - and can tell you more if you need to know anything else about what is involved.

Completely understand you not wanting to wait Donbean. Do they not do a d&c until you start m/c naturally? I had a blighted ovum m/c last Aug, only picked up with a bleed at 12+1 and had d&c 2 days later, thank good, could not have continued on for weeks, just waiting.
What has your gp said, just to wait?

Oblomov · 24/03/2008 00:27

Donbean, my heart goes out to you. I am interested too. Surrey hospitals refuse to give tablets. I had an ERPC last time and do not want one this time, so am very interested in tablets.
I am pretty sure I have a mmc, but am waiting for confirmation.
How would i get hold of such tablets ?

Springflower · 24/03/2008 07:50

What is the reason they dont give the tablets in Surrey? I know in Edinburgh they said they werent licensed for this use which is why you have to come into hospital for the second set of tablets but they said that some hospitals dont make you so they were looking at that. I have had d&c's and the medical management and found both better than waiting but, for me, the medical management suited me because I didnt want an operation if I could avoid it. Can you ask to get referred to another area to get it done?

donbean · 24/03/2008 08:25

will ask when i go for scant tomorrow.
i dont want d&C or whatever they call t nowadays.
just want to go home take the tab and stuff myself with pain killers and chocolate.
