6.5 weeks.. MMC and now started spotting...how long will it take?

MrsBlue1986 · 09/02/2024 14:11

Technically 9 weeks but embryo stopped at 6.5 weeks.

I opted for expectant management as I do not want surgery or medical.

I started spotting this morning slightly (pink ish) and have lots of cramps. And I've just noticed some very small jelly like clots.

How long will it take to fully miscarry based on this?

How painful is it likely to be this size ?

I'm really panicking as I'm on my own with my toddler atm as my husband is away with work.

Thanks x

Thanks both for replying- I appreciate that! 🙏

I feel emotionally fine, very oddly. I've learnt to have thick skin, due to 10 previous miscarriages. It toughens you, unfortunately.

I just worry I had a lot more bleeding with earlier miscarriages (4-5 weeks) than I have now. Albeit, I've had a lot of clots now.

The fetus only measured 6.9mm so I guess that's not too big to pass?

I'm over thinking it!

I guess I should be happy its light now.

My only niggle is.. what if it's not all out.

Another scan next Monday to confirm it's all gone.

I wonder whether a pregnancy test would be too soo to try now 🤔 probably too early still!

This was exactly how I felt. I'm now 4 days on and am only bleeding lightly on and off, only really when I wipe and not filling a pad. This has how it's been every day since the heavy bleed. I expected much more too. Hopefully it is all done and you can work towards feeling better emotionally 💗

Can I ask, did you still get cramping ??

I'm on day 4 since the maib miscarriage clots and I'm still getting a lot of cramping despite the bleeding has eased up hugely! Thanks

To be honest I haven't really had cramps. But I think it's normal to have. I never really have cramps during AF anyway so maybe that helps. I stupidly took a test this morning, one week after the main bleed and was a very strong positive 😔

Oh no, same here tbf. Still very dark lines! Wahhh!

I've rang EPU for advice as the cramps are so so strong now. Stronger than Monday when i started bleeding. No idea what's going on!

We're the EPU helpful? Hopefully they will offer you a scan to check if everything has passed? X

All the pregnancy tissue has gone, I'm just left with some clots in the neck of my womb which needs to go.

She said this would explain the cramping...

I'm going to wait for it to go on its own. Definitely not having surgery for blood clots ! Haha

@MrsBlue1986 I'm glad I found your post as I've recently been in the same boat. Had 3 miscarriages since March last year now. First two I bled for ages (both were before 9weeks) but this last on I had really bad cramps on 26/01 but no bleeding then the floodgates opened on 31/01 for about 4 hours just like you. Then I literally stopped bleeding about 3 days later. I got a negative test 2 days ago (Happy Valentine's lol) Glad to hear it happens this way too as I was slightly concerned although the negative test helped ease my mind.

Are you TTC as soon as possible or are you going to wait? Me and DP are in two minds. 3 miscarriages in less than a year has started to take its toll on my body if nothing else.

Blessings and light to all you lovely ladies on here. Sorry we have all gone through this shitty experience and fingers crossed for all of you to get your rainbows

Mistralli · 16/02/2024 19:56

@MrsBlue1986 Glad to read you were able to get checked at the EPA. Cramps waiting for those last clots to shift sounds awful - but familiar. I think that's the sort of thing I described as "stringy bits". Are you getting any particular support after your 10 miscarriages? That's a lot of times to be on this particular roller coaster.

@nearly8- I'm sorry to hear about your 3 - and yes, even early miscarriages take a big physical (and emotional) toll. I have PCOS, and post my miscarriage I had to wait months - because it took that long for me to start ovulating again! My cycles were all over the place, lasting 6-8 weeks. In the end I used ovulation tests to help me understand what was going on, and luckily got pregnant (with one that stuck and is currently full of nursery germs!) the second cycle that I actually produced an egg. Was very tough knowing I simply couldn't start trying again, but at least it forced me to wait to fully recover.

Hey! So sorry you've been through such a bad time too with miscarriages. Each one definitely doesn't get easier.

I had a scan on Thursday which confirmed the tissue had all passed and there was a bit of normal clotting left. I think I have probably passed it all though now as I've definitely stopped bleeding now and no cramps at all. Let's hope so! 🙏

I don't honestly know about TTC again. We are thankfully so lucky to have a 2 year old already, but I'm 38, husband is 39, and feel like maybe its a sign of what is meant to be ? I keep googling pros and cons of only having 1 child. Doesn't help remotely!! Do you have kids already?
Have you been asked to be referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic ?

Thing is we went privately before my son to get both tested and honestly everything was OK in both of us. Which, isn't helpful! As there is nothing to "fix" I think our son was just a fluke...a miracle perhaps !

@MrsBlue1986 thanks for your kind words. I think I just replied on your other thread lol
Glad to hear that the bleeding and cramping has stopped. For me that's the worst bit - having to go through basically after birth but with what seems like no need.

Yes I've got children already so I definitely count my blessings but I'm 38 too (I'm 1986 like you) and I feel the same as you that my body's basically telling me to give up. Whilst I am happy with my DC I feel really sad that the end of my mothering journey is marred by these losses. It kind of makes me want to keep trying and trying until I get a sticky one but these pregnancies since the first loss are just filled with anxiety and it doesn't feel the same. I've had 3 in less than a year and it's really starting to take its toll. Oh how naive I was with my first pregnancies.

If you ever need a chat or a hand hold or just a blow out I'm here 🙋‍♀️

nearly8 · 17/02/2024 09:22

@MrsBlue1986 sorry I forgot to say no I haven't been referred. I don't really know how I feel about it. Can't afford to go private which is where I know the best help is. I didn't even go to EPU with the last two miscarriages as I feel the care there isn't great. I know they're overworked but I felt like they just wanted me out if there. Never went for the scan to check everything was gone either.

I don't think your son was just a miracle. You are clearly still able to get pregnant which is one big leap in the right direction. It's frustrating that all your tests were ok (as odd as that sounds) cause as you say it's not provided any answers as to why it's happening.

You don't have to answer this but just out of my own curiosity what age did you start your period? I was 10 so really early so I've been convincing myself that my eggs must be bad quality as I've been menstruating for 27 years. Crazy and probably unfounded but when you've got no answers you can go off on a tangent lol.

As I say, be kind to yourself and DM me if you feel like it

Heyy yeh thanks I saw your other post too haha.

Ah we're the same age.

Yeah I had 5 miscarriages before my son and 5 since. There was a heartbeat for 3 of them too, but they stopped. Which doesn't make it easier knowing that.

So I started my periods at 11, but... I had my egg reserve checked 3 years ago and I had a very good score, lots of good quality eggs left - which was reassuring. You could get that checked too, that bit was relatively cheap- I think 50 quid.

I don't know. I've said to ny husband if we're not pregnant this year; 2024, we should probably call it a day. ...

OP posts:
nearly8 · 17/02/2024 10:10

@MrsBlue1986 oh Hun I'm so sorry you've had such a shit experience. That's good news about the egg reserve though.
I said the same thing for 2023.... Got pregnant in December and thought wow this must be it only to have another miscarriage end of January. I'm leaving it to mother nature. We're not actively TTC but not exactly preventing it either. My DH isn't particularly bothered either way which annoys me cause after every loss he just says 'well it wasn't meant to be ' but I think it's probably sensible to have a definite end date for TTC. Part of me just doesn't want to stop but going through miscarriage is so harrowing for me that I probably need a timeframe. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that this will be your year. Please update every now and then. My bday is October so I'm sending positive vibes for you that around that time you will be welcoming your rainbow 🌈

Hey! So sorry I haven't been online since my last post. I'm absolutely fine thank you so much. I ovulated this week and absolutely did not TTC! Haha. I don't know where and when or if we will again...but I'm enjoying feeling normal and sane and drinking fizz come an evening, for the time being haha 😆
