How many days of clots?

I found out I was 3+ weeks on 30th December. I hadnt actually had a period for 3 months and had done several negative tests. So when this came as positive it was a huge surprise. It also means that I have little idea of how far along I actually was. I had spotting for 2 weeks until Monday 15th when I had a miscarriage.

I had extreme pain for several hours and passed a lot of clots. The pain subsided and I managed to sleep. I woke up Tuesday 16th and felt much better physically but the extreme cramps started again mid afternoon and I continued to pass more clots. I had yet again more clots yesterday 17th and today 18th, but not with the same level of pain.

I’m finding the amount of days this is taking so distressing. Every time I think it has finished I pass some more. I feel having spoken to my GP and EPU I was totally unprepared for the level of physical pain and discomfort and distress this has brought with it.

Does anyone have experience of several days of passing clots? Rather than the several hours that seems to be advised all over medical sites.

Is it possible you were further than you think? When I had my mc at 11 weeks was bleeding cloths from evening to next morning but after that it was just blood.

I mean maybe? Before the positive on the 30th December. the last pregnancy test I did was 2nd December which was negative. I had worked out based on that negative (unless it was false) that at the point of miscarriage I could be about 7-8.

@M1LL13 yes I had a similar discovery to you- I wondered why all over the internet the advice was that the process of passing the blood and cramping would be a few hours. Very misleading ime.
my spotting started on a Thursday and by the Sunday I was passing clots almost as wide as the pad and in a real lot of pain. This heavy bleeding (filling about two maxi pads and passing of large clots went on for a couple of days until I passed the pregnancy (embryo, sac, and placenta together). After that I still had heavy bleeding but it started slowing down and became more like a period once I had passed the baby/pregnancy. Seven days later I past one last smaller clot and that was it. So it can go on for awhile and I don’t know why all over the internet it describes it as a process taking a few hours. I’m sorry for your loss.
