Is my wife having a miscarriage

My wife and I have just done ivf, 2 week wait test showed it worked and she was pregnant. Today she was nearly 3 weeks pregnant. She had a couple light cramps this afternoon. This evening around 11
30 she went to put her progesterone pessary in, there was no blood on the applicator, but when she wiped there was fresh red blood. Enough to cover the tissue. She wiped a few more times for a few minutes and there was blood. She went and got in bed for an hour or so, went back to the toilet and nothing on her pad and nothing when she wiped. Is this a miscarriage?

@Atp94 Didn't want to read and run and just wanted to send my love. It sounds promising that the fresh red blood hasn't continued after the initial wipe- if it is a miscarriage the bleeding will ramp up somewhat or at
Least be consistent , along with stomach cramps. Perhaps the pessary could have irritated something when she inserted it?

No way to tell (unfortunately) it's really difficult to go through.
I had bleeding in my first trimester (red, brown , pink) and some huge bleeds in the second trimester. They never knew why and scanned me / checked my cervix a fair few times. One day it just stopped.

Many women shared similar success stories with me to.

As this is ivf, will you get an early scan soon?

No way to know yet. It could be from the peasary or even implantation bleeding. Best thing is to keep an eye and maybe contact the clinic where you had the ivf. Bleeding in the first trimester is quite common. Good luck x

I had this and it was implantation bleeding. It's so tough, but all you can do is wait and see. I hope you have an early scan booked as part of your ivf cycle? Hopefully you'll be able to hear a heartbeat then. Wishing you all the luck in the world xx

Thanks for the messages everyone.
We have an early scan booked on the 3rd January with our clinic. I've called the out of hours number and spoke with a doctor who recommended upping the progesterone pessaries to 4 times a day and calling our clinic directly tomorrow and asking for a blood test.

She's not had any bleeding at all overnight and nothing this morning. And not had any further pains.

Thanks again for all your comments.
