Please help! Pcos baby, 4 weeks approx. Threatened miscarriage.

Hi all,

my last period started 16th November. I have pcos so wasn’t expecting to ovulate. To my shock I got a positive test on the 12th December. Last night I started spotting brown blood. I went to a&e and HCG in blood was only 75 - is this too low? Cervix was closed upon inspection but Dr said it is a “threatened miscarriage” and to wait and see. I have just taken another test on no hold and see progression in the two tests. Pregnancy symptoms are fleeting & my gut tells me this isn’t going to work out :( any advice / positive stories etc?

I have pcos.
bled all through my first trimester , red, pink, brown. I was sent for extra scans and checks. It was always fine. So worrying for me though!!

now 31 weeks and had huge bleeds in second trimester. Again, fine. Cause never found and luckily hasn't happened for a while now.

Oh, my notes also always said 'threatened miscarriage' and they always said not to worry that's just the medical term used when bleeding early pregnancy

Another PCOS sufferer here. Spotted brown blood all through first trimester with DD1 and through first trimester of current pregnancy too (currently 23weeks). Noone ever did bloods so i dont know my HCG levels but i was able to get an internal scan at around 6.5w through the early pregnancy unit to check for a heartbeat. Bleeding stopped around 13weeks for me. Wishing you lots of luck and hope its a positive outcome for you.

Thank you both and congratulations to you both. I hope it’s the same story for me but I can’t shake this awful feeling. EPU also won’t touch me as I’m too early which is fair enough. Just got to wait and see 😩

I had a few hcg tests but struggling to remember. It definitely wasn't high . Around 50-60 maybe at what I know now to be about 3+5.

It's the standard to have a dating scan where I am at 7-8 weeks . Hopefully epu might let you have one earlier then 12 if you do have any continued bleeds x

Thank you for your reply. I do think all women should be offered a scan around 8 weeks, it seems cruel to wait 12. My bleeding hasn’t progressed, it’s still brown / light pink small amounts when I wipe. Pregnancy symptoms still on and off but not as strong as I’ve had with a previous pregnancy which I thought was maybe a bad sign. Tests seem to be ok I think?
