First time poster, sharing as I have not been able to find similar experiences and hope to update this for others in the future.

Reassurance scan at 10w (sure of dates) as previous MMC -Ges sac and yolk sac seen, dated 6w6d

Scan to confirm MMC 7 days later showing baby (2.8mm) with no heartbeat and 2 yolk sacs, dated 5w6d

Scan booked for 7 days time

I know the dates are impossibly out, but seeing growth has really thrown me.
It's an awful wait and you cling onto hope, which makes everything worse.

Any similar experiences? TIA 💐

Anyone experienced anything similar with a MMC? Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
TIA x

The way you've written sounds like the first scan showed 6w5d and the next 5w6d which doesn't sound like growth - is it a typo?

I'm sorry you're going through this - it's horrible to have the waiting and uncertainty. Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do to change the outcome at this stage. I'm sorry I don't have technical knowledge of how much hope there might be, if any, but you would certainly expect to see a heartbeat by 10w.

Hi @Bellzy I'm so sorry you're going through this.
I had a very similar experience where my pregnancy was being monitored early on due to history of miscarriage and there was some small growth between scans but no viable heartbeat, even with small growth.
Unfortunately this pregnancy did lead to miscarriage. I've had 4 miscarriages before I went onto have my young child.
After 3 miscarriages (although I think it's either recently been changed or soon will be changed to 2 losses), you can be referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic to investigate why this is happening.
You will likely know more on your next scan what the likely outcome will be with this pregnancy. I do hope it's positive news for you, but the development so far is a bit concerning.
Sending love to you ♥️

Thank you for your replies. It means a lot.

As much as this is a wanted pregnancy, if it continues I think I will be forever worried something is wrong with the baby.

That is right - they back dated me at my second scan. The first scan the sac size was measuring 6w6, but the second scan, as a yolk and baby were seen, it was dated as 5w 6d. The consultant asked for a second opinion as they were not sure what is going on, but as you have said, I've just been told to wait.

My gut instinct - or hope - is that the first scan wasn't conducted properly and the baby was there all along, and that the next scan will confirm no growth so I can move on.

Thank you for replying ✨
