Tonnes of ewcm in underwear after miscarriage - normal?

Hi everyone,

I miscarried at 11 weeks 6 days in late August. Had been a heartbeat up until a few days beforehand. Still emotionally reeling from it all.

things haven’t felt normal physically since. It’s been 7.5 weeks and still haven’t had a period, or ovulated (I’ve been tracking). I’ve been having some spotting and also a lot of ovulation type pain (but for weeks on end, intermittently). I have PCOS so am used to things being a bit wonky but not to this level.

have been referred for a scan of my womb and ovaries at the gynae department, not sure of the date yet

anyway - I’ve been having some ewcm, which I’ve found through checking my cervix. this morning I got dressed, went for a run and came back to a HUGE amount of ewcm in my underwear. Won’t inflict the picture on mumsnet but it was all on top of each other and very voluminous. Never seen anything like it before (and I’ve been ttc for over a year), it freaked me out a bit.

has anyone else had this? I’m not sure whether it’s just my body going into overdrive hormonally, in abnormal way post mc, or whether something is up

xx

Are you sure it’s not a decidual cast ?

@DustyLee123 thanks for your message! Just looked up what that was. Mine was clear with no blood in, so don’t think it could be?

I used to get loads of extra discharge after I’d been for a run. There’d be more after a 5k then would accumulate during a regular day. I don’t know why this happened but I never googled it (unusual for me). Guess I just assumed it was my body’s reaction to the physical exertion I was putting it under.

I did just read online tho that strenuous cardio can dislodge discharge and make it look as tho you’re passing a larger amount than usual. It doesn’t make you produce
more, just expels what’s built up around your cervix.

@feelingnotbelieving this is so helpful, thanks so much. It’s so hard working out what’s just unusual for you, and not a problem, and what’s actually a sign of your body not healing properly from the miscarriage.

@feelingnotbelieving runners world says it’s a thing!!!

”Plus, high-impact exercises like running work a lot like hitting a ketchup bottle on the end: All of that jostling results in discharge coming out”…. Lovely 😅
