Bleeding after a Chemical Pregnancy & Progesterone Supplementation

Hi all,

Recently experienced my 3rd chemical pregnancy (confirmed by negative test at the 5 weeks mark) so immediately stopped my progesterone suppositories.

This was 7 days ago and I still haven't bled...

Is this normal? Has anyone else taken longer to bleed after a chemical or not bled at all? Thinking about maybe calling the EPU tomorrow to check with them as I have always bled with my other chemicals x

Sorryto hear you had 3 chemicall pregnancies

Ive just had a c p

How are you doing ?

@worldwidetravel2017 Sorry to hear about your cp, how far did you get?

I’m doing much better thanks, I didn’t bleed in the end but the EPU said sometimes your body just absorbs it. Looks like my LH is surging so I might ovulate again soon.

I think I’m just going to relax this cycle and not get too bogged down with trying to get pregnant x

Hi @LacedBouquet

Hope you are well and so sorry for your loss. I'm in a similar situation to you (minus the progesterone supplements) - I found out my pregnancy is unviable today as my BETA HCG bloods came back as 7. I'm around 6 weeks, my pregnancy test lines failed to get darker after the initial one that I did, so I self referred to the EPU as I've miscarried before and they confirmed the loss just now. However, I haven't bled and I haven't had any spotting and I'm confused about when I can start TTC again - the last time I had a chemical there was a very obvious bleed as soon as I got my BFP but this time, nothing. Do you have any advice on what to do next in terms of getting progesterone supplements? I have a GP appointment on thursday so I'm really hoping that I can get some prescribed for (hopefully) next time. x

Hey @rosied31 so sorry for your loss! I didn't bleed unfortunately until this weekend. My body started a new cycle without bleeding and so I had to wait and then when AF was due it came extra heavy as it was the miscarriage bleed from the month before. Now I can start ttc again :)
With progesterone I had to get mine privately and that was after 3 miscarriages in a row and a short luteal phase of 8 days. It's really hard to get it prescribed by the GP. From what I have seen on here you either need to get it privately or get referred to the recurrent miscarriage unit/ EPU and they can prescribe if your progesterone comes back low x

The rules changed in july this year - pregnancy loss review guidelines

You can request progesterone asap on NHS if you bleed in a pregnancy
After one previous early miscarriage now

@worldwidetravel2017 That is fantastic news!!! Hopefully I won't need to buy any more progesterone and when I run out, I can get some prescribed :)

You should be able to get it prescribed as soon as any little bleed

The gynae that supported us in our early miscarriage assured us theyd tell any dr re me if needed to in any future conception etc...

Myleene klass etc did a big campaign
