Brown discharge 1 week after period - late miscarriage

I had a late miscarriage at approx 17 weeks on 4th July.

I had my first period last week, it was shorter than usual and a bit lighter too but still heavy enough to need ultra tampons in the first few days (normal for me to need them 3 or 4 days)

I am now about week since my period finished. Today I have had ovulation type discharge and a lot of it. But just now I wiped and its heavily tinted brown with tiny red dots in it.

I've not had sex this cycle.

Could this just be normal and my body settling down or do I need to get this looked into?

so sorry for you loss..

I would get some professional advice, I had a miscarriage at 16+2 in April and delivered the baby and placenta. 10 days later I was passing something unusual it looked a bit like small parts of a membrane, went for an uss and had 5cm of retained products and had to have ERCP (surgery to remove products). Had this and baby girls memorial was the day after I was discharged. Best to get checked out, I know you likely are still grieving but my thoughts are with you.. it’s a really awful time 🤍🤍

I was checked for retained product before leaving as I did have a massive 2L bleed which turned out to be from membrane and placenta products.

Its very concerning especially after everything that's happened.

Thank you for replying.

@OnNaturesCourse I'm so sorry for your loss. If this is your first period since the loss, it can be different to your normal cycles. I haven't had a late miscarriage, mine were at 11 and 10 weeks respectively, but after my first my period was super light and short. This time it has been really heavy and had way more clots than usual. I also developed mid cycle spotting after my first miscarriage that took about 6 months to settle down and disappear. Hopefully this is just your body trying to figure out its rhythm again x

P.s. no harm getting yourself checked out, especially if you're worried. Best to make sure all is ok x

Thanks, and sorry for your losses.

This is my first cycle. I had my period and I'm now ovulating I think (usual signs and silly discharge) but I feel very period y if that makes sense. I do wonder if my hormones are a bit out of whack with everything that's happened.
