Miscarriage and existing holiday booked for sat?

I have been bleeding since Friday and scan today confirmed MC, baby died at 6 weeks and I should be 10 weeks today.
I have had heavy bleeding and clots with severe pain which has now settled. The scan showed baby has not yet passed.

I really don’t want to cancel the holiday and the earliest appt EPU had for medical management was Thurs which I think is too late.

I have never had a MC so just wanted some advice on weather it is safe to go on holiday, it is a cruise so dr on board and no flights needed.

if I opted for surgery would I be well enough to go on holiday after? Would baby pass naturally by Thursday? Would you still go on holiday?

Sorry for your loss. Practically I think everyone’s different so hard to say. I had a MMC at 12 weeks (7 week foetus)
for me it was like a heavy period and I knew when the sac had passed on day 2 heavy bleeding. I took the pills to induce the miscarriage.

would I go on holiday? Probably…I went to a wedding the afternoon of mine. But it’s all very personal.

I'm so sorry OP. It was me I would still go on holiday, it would be good to have something to focus on and try and take your mind off of things however understand the concern if you're still waiting for more to pass.

I had medical management and bleeding was so heavy I wouldn't have been able to go on holiday, I had to go back in to the hospital to have surgical management.

Is surgical management do-able before you go away?

if I opted for surgery would I be well enough to go on holiday after?
Everyone is different but I was totally fine, no pain, bleeding pretty much stopped after the procedure and I walked home and went and did a big shop that afternoon, felt fine.

Would baby pass naturally by Thursday?
Impossible to say unfortunately

Would you still go on holiday?
Yes if I had passed the sac already/had surgical management

Thank you all, I’m going to ring the EPU tomorrow and ask for more options and if surgery is a possibility, I just want it over with and an option that will allow me to go on holiday.

I can’t sleep as I’m more stressed about the holiday than the MC!!

So sorry for your loss. I had two surgical procedures after twelve week losses, felt a bit woozy after anaesthetic but day surgery and ok physically next day. Go on your holiday and give yourself some time away to grieve and look after yourself. I never wanted uncertainly afterwards, would prefer the “closure” of surgery but every one is different x

Not sure if it helps, but if surgery not an option, my medical induced miscarriage started within hours of the pills. I had been bleeding a few days before.

enjoy your holiday, and again thought are with you

Thank you all

I have called EPU, they said they have no earlier appt but have booked me a bed for Friday for surgery just in case that’s what I decide. They also said going on holiday on Sat would not be against medical advice.

feeling a-bit more positive now.

sorry for your loss. Just wanted to say I’ve also had medical management (3 times to be exact). The second time needed a repeat dose but that’s because I was advised to take ibuprofen by someone covering duties so don’t do do that. When taken correctly it was all over the same day, under 6 hours, everything passed and I wasn’t in any physical pain after. I wish I’d had the idea to go on holiday as I think it would have been good for me. Thinking of you x
