Chemical pregnancy following miscarriage

Hi all, just looking for some positivity to be honest!
I had a miscarriage at 11+3 just over 4 weeks ago. I'd had 2 negative tests roughly 2 weeks later. 2 days ago I tested positive on 2 tests, yesterday tested positive on further 2 including CB early detection. I tested as I just felt different and had some thick discharge which was unusual (sorry if TMI!). Started spotting yesterday, midwife was very positive and said congratulations that will just be implantation.. today I'm bleeding heavier with cramping. Test I did this morning now showing negative. Feel like this must have been a chemical pregnancy..
Just feeling low and like why can't I keep a pregnancy, I'm aware this is very dramatic 😅 we will be trying again this month.

Hey there! I am right with you! So sorry for your losses. I too had a chemical following a loss at 12+2 in feb. I thought of starting a post like this as most posts talk about high fertility after an MC and usually a quick as well as a successful pregnancy following one. I had a period between mine so a bit different situation overall. I haven't yet restarted ttc. Want to wait a bit this time. May i ask how old you are and if you had/ are going to have any investigations done? I just turned 35. Got pregnant both times at 34 not that there is some magic line between the two ages.

Hi @2lossestoo I'm sorry for your losses 💕 Yeh, when I saw that positive I thought this is it, because of all the stuff I've read saying you'd be more fertile.. was gutted to then start bleeding. I've just turned 31, started ttc 2 months before I fell pregnant with first, so I will see how the next few months go as I'm hoping it won't be long again. Have you thought about having investigations done?

Hi @Firsttimemumtobee I see! so sorry again. and my story first time around is the same in that i got pg 2nd month trying then MCed at 12 weeks. Starred ttc right away and got pg again second month. No previous children. I did get some tests done: antiphospholipid, AMH, chromosome analysis and such but results aren't back yet..

Any positive stories, anyone? could really use some hope..

Hi @2lossestoo hope you're ok?
Just wanted to let you know, I called dr yesterday about chemical pregnancy (after bank hol weekend).. they were really lovely, recommended looking at Tommys website if you haven't already. Also said, when I'm next pregnant to call them and they'll put me on progesterone straight away to hopefully help me keep pregnancy 🤞🏻

I had a missed m/c, then couple months later I had a chemical which was unusual in a sense that my tests were darkening nicely to begin with.
I am now 36 weeks pregnant.
The anxiety is real and I know at times it felt like this would never happen. It feels impossible until it happens.
All the best to everyone ❤️
I'm still very anxious and will be so until the baby is here safely.

Also, if it's relevant, first pregnancy took half a year. Tests were done for blood clotting, thyroid, etc after the second loss but nothing was found.

Hi @Firsttimemumtobee . I am good thanks for checking 😊 That is good news! I will check out the website. thanks! Are you restarting ttc? I went to a fertility specialist who has recommended a ton of other tests so I am now in two minds whether to wait or not..

Thanks a ton for sharing your positive experience @ScrantonDunderMifflin (love the name btw!) . Wish you a healthy and stress-free rest of pregnancy 🤞🏼. May i know, if its not too painful for you to talk about as to how far along were you when you mc-ed the first time? Apologies if this is a sensitive question. I am trying to see if there is a connection in how late the first mc was to the chances of a chemical if you conceive too soon afterwards..just in my head. Of course you can ignore this..

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 01/06/2023 23:52

@2lossestoo it's not a problem to ask at all. The heart stopped beating at 8 weeks it seemed from the scan. The next pregnancy (chemical) happened two months later x

2lossestoo · 03/06/2023 02:12

Thanks @ScrantonDunderMifflin ! appreciate it..best wishes again 😊

Firsttimemumtobee · 04/06/2023 23:32

@ScrantonDunderMifflin congratulations! That's so lovely to hear, very sorry about your losses before ❤️ hope everything goes well, sending lots of love and positive thoughts x

@2lossestoo we're trying again straight away, should be ovulating any day now 🤞🏻 entirely up to you! Several people have said when you stop ttc it will just happen naturally so might be worth taking the pressure off.. I'm trying to stay as anxiety free as possible, although it's hard! 😅

Hi, I know this is an old post but going through something similar and wondered if you had tests done and whether they showed anything up? I've had 2 chemicals after a MMC and not sure if something's out of whack and will sort itself out on its own....
