5 weeks today - Cramps and light spotting

Hi all, Im 5 weeks today. This is my second pregnancy but i miss-miscarried the first in 2021.

Over the weekend i had some cramping and spotting and im feeling really anxious. I rang the early pregnancy unit and theres nothing they can do until my scan next wednesday.

Has anyone had similar bleeding and had a good outcome? alternatively has anyone had similar bleeding and had a bad outcome?

Online information is so conflicting about first trimester symptoms.
bleeding is normal, but its also not. cramping is normal but its also not? feeling a bit overwhelmed and just want to hear any stories or advice weather its good or bad.

Try not to worry. I have had bleeding in two of my pregnancies and bleed a lot more than you. Both were fine.

Hi, I've got cramping and bleeding since Saturday night but all the doctors are saying it is normal. I've got a scan tomorrow but wanted you to know you're not alone.

I had light bleeding at 6 weeks twice. One ended in miscarriage the other went on to be a healthy pregnancy. So this is why the internet is so conflicting because it can be bad news but it can also be completely normal.

It's such an anxious time for you and so hard. I really feel for you. Could you maybe see if you can get an early scan booked privately at around 6-7 weeks?

The bleeding in my pregnancy the second time around lasted for a few weeks but I paid for a scan a few days after it started as I was certain I was having another miscarriage. The sonographer found a heart beat but couldn't find a reason for the bleeding. The bleeding stopped around 10 weeks.

Thank you so much for your reply! that makes sense as to why the internet is confusing. my miscarriage i had no bleeding at all, only after the medication to start. so this is why the blood now is confusing to me.

the bleeding has stopped now thankfully it never got any heavier than the pictures so fingers crossed thats it.

I do have a scan booked for next wednesday thankfully. hopefully it gives me a bit of reassurance!

That's ok OP! It's such a worrying time and I completely understand how you feel. The bleeding you've shown is incredibly light, mine was much heavier than that at the start of my successful pregnancy.
It's really good that you have a scan booked, it will definitely give you some reassurance. I'll keep everything crossed for you, please let us know how you get on ❤️
