Was anyone prescribed heparin injections without taking blood tests ? I have been prescribed herapin injections when I next become pregnant at 4-12 weeks + 150mg asprin + 2x progesterone pessaries 4-12 weeks pregnant. My antiphospholipid + lupus blood tests came back normal but the gynaecologist said there are loads more blood tests that a private recurrent miscarriage clinic do (eg st Mary’s) that the nhs don’t (im currently through the nhs) and if the blood test results are a bit out then they always prescribe heparin anyway. I asked if this would harm the baby or have any side effects if I were to get pregnant and she said no.

hi there!

I've been told I will be given heparin for my next pregnancy test as soon as i have a positive due to me having 'low fibrinolytic parameters' but not sure the dose of it or how long i will have to take it for.

I've had 5 miscarriages and under treatment as St Mary's via NHS but also see an immune specialist privately. I am on a bunch of medication from that doctor as well for some immune issues.

I have also been told there are no side effects but i'm nervous to take them. I'm also on 75mg aspirin and progesterone from ovulation.

@TTCxox hi sorry I know it is an old post but I was curious if you had an answer to your question somewhere else?!
I had one blood test showing a lupus anticoagulant a bit high so I have to redo it at the beginning of November as they can only confirm a positive diagnosis with 2 samples at 12 week interval... they have told me it is best not to get pregnant until the test is done as it can create a false result...anyway I am 40 so every cycle counts... I don't really want to put on hold trying just because of this ! They did say if I get pregnant in the meantime to phone them up and they would start me on heparin and aspirin. I am just trying to find out how bad is heparin if nothing is wrong with your body or your baby! Thanks 😊
