*WARNING: Picture included* Possible miscarriage? Passed pink jelly-like clot at 7wks + 3 days

Hi all, so I found out I was pregnant on 10th Jan this year.

As I've had two previous MCs (one MMC and one chemical) I was naturally very nervous about this one, so called my GP who recommended I be referred to EPU for scans.

The first two didn't show much but the most recent showed a little bean measuring 6 + 4 with a good heartbeat. For this reason I have now been discharged from the EPU, which DP and I were hopeful was a good sign as the ultrasound tech seemed very happy/confident.

All seemed to be going well, mild cramping here and there, but when going to the toilet earlier I found a large (maybe 5p size?) Blob floating in the bowl. I wouldn't describe it is blood or discharge, more like a light pink jelly? It was fairly solid.

Obviously I flew into a panic seeing it, and in the process of fishing it out trying to investigate further lost a lot of it down the sink ...I know, very silly of me, but I was in a complete state!

I called DP and he came home from work early (citing family emergency) and once we'd both calmed down he looked in the sink and found some of the blob still stuck under the plug.

I've put what I was able to retrieve in a pot and taken the below picture. In both my previous experience with MCs I never had anything like this. Does this look like tissue, or could it be something else? I've compared to other pictures online but haven't found anything that seems to match...

I've been cramping on and off since so I've got a nasty gut instinct that I already know the answer, but I've also not had any bleeding?

If no bleeding occurs by Monday I will call up EPU or my GP and see if I can get a scan appointment.

Any input would be appreciated ❤️

How strange, it almost looks like smoked salmon !

it’s not like any miscarriage I’ve ever had or seen. I guess it’s a waiting game and then speak to your midwife Monday. Sorry not to be more helpful.

fingers crossed for you x

roselle345 · 04/02/2023 22:37

I know, completely bizarre right? Its making me sick with worry, I have no idea what to make of it!

I’m really sorry (and not medically trained) but I would think that you had miscarried looking at the picture.
I really hope I am wrong though but you should maybe be prepared. Wishing you all the best.

roselle345 · 04/02/2023 22:39

Thank you so much - I'm really hoping it isn't worse case scenario. Partner and I were really hopeful this would be our rainbow baby xx

That's okay, we are trying to be mindful of the fact that this could be bad news for us, so we are trying to also prepare for worse case scenario x

Saying that, I have just googled 7 week embryo and it looks nothing like this, unless there was a malformation which maybe the case. Please ignore my first post op, I am too ignorant to comment, hope i haven’t upset you.

MissMaple82 · 04/02/2023 22:43

I had a miscarriage at around 7/8 weeks and it was a large mass, it filled a urine sample cup, it was round in shape and almost veiney looking. It looked absolutely nothing like this. Maybe is the womb lining?

Rockschooldropout · 04/02/2023 22:47

I’ve had early miscarriages and they never looked like this , There was bleeding , clots etc .. this is really bizarre !

ThomasWaghornsConeHat · 04/02/2023 22:47

If you have had a MC before, you know there would be blood. I think it's just some weird discharge.

Hathats · 04/02/2023 22:49

I had a miscarriage at 7/8 weeks, the sack came out and it looked like a piece of liver. about 50p size. Not like that, sorry if a bit tmi.

I once had a weird period cramp, and a bit of womb lining came out. Which looked more like that.

I hope that helps, it's stressful times.

roselle345 · 04/02/2023 23:00

Don't worry, I'm not terribly squeamish, so no need to warn about tmi! I'm so sorry that happened to you, it sounds awful x

To be honest I was almost 100% certain this was a MC before posting this, but now I'm not so sure. My MMC ended in a D&C, so I never 'passed' anything naturally (other than blood). The chemical was also just like a late and heavy period.

I've never heard of womb lining coming out like this, so it's a new one on me! Guess we'll have to wait and see, but thank you so much for your comment xx

Agreed, it's very weird. Never experienced anything like this before!

OP posts:
roselle345 · 04/02/2023 23:02

I'll be honest, these weren't the responses I was expecting, so I'm feeling a little reassured ❤️ Thank you for your input

OP posts:
roselle345 · 04/02/2023 23:05

I wouldn't have thought there would have been a malformation as all seemed healthy/normal at the beginning of the next, but you never know! Please don't apologise, this stuff can be super scary and confusing. Nothing you've said has upset me, I'm just already in a bit of a state haha x

OP posts:
roselle345 · 04/02/2023 23:08

Someone else has suggested this too - I'd genuinely never heard of womb lining shedding like this before I made this post. Which I'm sure makes me sound incredibly silly 🙈 I'm feeling a little bit more hopeful having read these comments, maybe this isn't the definitive sign of MC that I thought it was.

I'm sorry that happened to you, I hope you are doing well now xx

Just saying because you mentioned finding it floating in the bowl - are you sure it's something you passed, and not something someone might have thrown away in the toilet earlier?

dizzydizzydizzy · 04/02/2023 23:18

Could it be a discharge during implantation?

Justhereforaibu1 · 04/02/2023 23:27

As others have said, looks nothing like a miscarriage which is hopeful. Wishing you all the best

roselle345 · 05/02/2023 10:50

Update for everyone: I was able to book in for a private scan today and they've just assured me that everything is fine. Measuring at 8wks +1day (almost a full week further along than my NHS ultrasound suggested I was - so not sure who to believe!) And we still have a strong heartbeat.

I have no idea what happened last night but I want to thank everyone so much for their input! Hopefully this was just one of those things and we'll be all good from here 🤞🤞

That's great news, what a relief for you

Donnamarie85 · 01/10/2023 10:46

Really hope someone can possibly help so I had a termination bk in June it failed with retained products so had more pills back in July 21st,since then my cycle has been crazy last night I passed this could feel it coming out of me.I will give a trigger warning and upload pic

Donnamarie85 · 02/10/2023 20:36

Anyone

ThomasWaghornsConeHat · 02/10/2023 22:26

@Donnamarie85 I think maybe you need to start a new thread. But have uou had periods since the terminations? I'd show the puc to your gp as it doesn't like like a clot to my very untrained eye. Good luck
