Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

anyone had one child, then 2 m/c, then successfully had more children?

Gemzooks · 25/01/2008 17:36

I have 15 month DS, on Monday I had a natural miscarriage at 12 weeks, (had scan last week with no heartbeat and told it had died at 8 weeks), and had had an early m/c just a month before that one (so maybe the two pgs were too close together to be healthy).

Has anyone had similar and gone on to have another or more healthy babies? need a bit of cheering up!

thanks!

so sorry for your losses, but I've had exactly the same circumstances as you ... I had ds (who's now 5), then 2 MCs - one complete, and one missed, then got pg again, and dd is now 16 weeks old .... there's lots of support on this thread - be prepared for your next pregnancy to be the scariest roller-coaster yet - but you do get happy endings!

Good luck!

bonkerz · 25/01/2008 17:49

i had DS in 2000 the a mc in 2004 and another one in 2005 and now have a 2 year old DD so it can happen. Sorry to hear of your loss.

berolina · 25/01/2008 17:52

I had mc, then ds1, then mc, then another mc in the 1st cycle after the last one, then ds2.

I'm sorry you've had to go through this. Please don't lose hope.

kittywise · 25/01/2008 17:56

Yes, I had:
ds1
ds2
m/c
dd1
m/c
m/c
dd2

hope that helps

juuule · 25/01/2008 18:40

In a similar vein to Kittywise

ds1 m/c ds2 dd1 ds3 m/c m/c dd2 m/c dd3
dd4 dd5 m/c m/c dd6
m/c

juuule · 25/01/2008 18:41

Got my asterisks confused there

hana · 25/01/2008 18:48

yes, I had 2 m/c between dd1 and dd2. dd3 came v quickly after dd2, they are 18 months apart.
good luck!

tassisssss · 25/01/2008 18:52

I'm so sorry

My story's very much like hanas - I had ds in April 2003, then 2 early m/c and finally (after about 2 years of trying) conceeived dd who was born in Sept 2006. Then after hardly trying at all I conceived again and dc3 will be born in June.

I'm sure it'll be fine for you. Try to rest and take it easy if you can. I hope you're being well looked after.

hana · 25/01/2008 19:24

do cheer up and know that it will happen to you - I remember at the time being very down and sad about it all, it was only sort of 4/5 years ago and life is so very different now with 3 young children!
it's a stressful time (or can be...)so do look after yourself
hope you have a healthy pregnancy v soon

juuule · 25/01/2008 19:34

It's also highly unlikely that it was caused by the 2 pregnancies being too close together. People become pregnant only a few weeks after giving birth and pregnancy continues normally.
You have been unlucky this time. M/c is very common. Nothing to blame yourself for.

bonkerz · 25/01/2008 20:42

also add it would be very unlikely it was due to pregnancys being close together. My last miscarriage was jan 2005 and i got pregnant march 2005 with DD.

Nappyzone · 25/01/2008 20:50

Yes - had dd then started trying when was 2 and it took an age to fall again (well it seemed like that)had 2 early mc in between and now have a scrummy ds (there is 4 yr between them), I was papping myself right through till i got to my 20 week scan. Chin up

Mungarra · 27/01/2008 14:00

I had DS1,
miscarriage at 5.5 weeks,
DS2 (conceived straight after miscarriage),
molar pregnancy and D&C,
missed miscarriage at 12 weeks & D&C,
DD now 7 weeks old.

I'm now 40 years old so I think miscarriages were probably caused by my age.

Gemzooks · 28/01/2008 19:23

thanks everyone.. feel a bit more hopeful. It's been a week since it happened and for the first time feeling better physically, I never realised how weak I'd feel afterwards! Will give it at least 3 months before trying again.... hopefully see some of you on the 'due in 2009' threads!

Hi there, I am in a very similar situation to yourself. I had a big healthy boy then miscarried in June (11 weeks) then fell pregnant in November and miscarried in December. Its a horrible feeling and started to feel something was wrong with me, but after tests and checks it was just not meant to be with the 2 little ones that I lost. I am still coming to terms with it. good luck for 2009, keep us posted xx

oliviaelanasmum · 28/01/2008 22:25

Hi i have miscarried between each of my dd's, now have 3 of the healthy little rug rats and ttc #4 .

gigglewitch · 28/01/2008 22:34

lots of us

leave it a month (or two) or whatever feels "right" to you, you need your strength back physically & emotionally.
I have 3 DC and lots of m/c's before and between them. Stay positive, and keep posting there are more of us than you'd believe

RoseyB · 29/01/2008 13:45

Hi, I've got a 19mnth old son and had an mc in Aug and then in Jan. I'm 40. I went ot the gyno at great expense and she told me two bad eggs :-) it takes a lot of courage to go on. I am fortunate to have a regular cycle and that my husband and I conceive easily. Some may think we're too old but oh no, I want a sister or brother for my lovely boy and I feel young. It's just so hard to loose those little beans isn't it?

Pfer · 29/01/2008 13:52

Gemzooks, so sorry to hear your news but I can say like many others that yes you can go on to have another. DS1 was 2yo when I miscarried the first time at 10 weeks, we waited for a few months then tried again and lost that one at 12 weeks. But then joy of joy just 3 months later I got pregnant with DS2 and he's 3.5yrs old and amazing.....Don't give up.

kpov · 29/01/2008 14:34

Hi, I'm glad you asked this gemzooks cos I'm in the same boat and have been wondering the same. I've got a DD8, had a miscarraige July 2007 at 7wks then a missed miscarraige last week (told at 11+wks that baby had died at 9wks ). I can't believe I left it 8yrs to try for another child and now I'm struggling to accept it's going to ever happen. It's lovely to come on here and hear the kind words of hope.

MagicDragon4 · 01/02/2008 14:28

Sorry to hear of your loss.
I've had 3 miscarriages in total , but have 4 heathly children

dd1
ds1
m/c 5 weeks
ds2
m/c 9 weeks
m/c 15 weeks
dd2

deeno · 02/02/2008 08:52

Hi Gemzooks,

Sorry to hear of your loss. Like yourself I have a healthy dd aged 4 and have had two m/c in the last 12 mths - one at 11wks and one at 12wks in January 08. Coming to terms with it but still feeling sad and like you are worrying what the future holds. This thread is really positive though. M/c are so common our m/c have most probably been down to bad luck and there is every chance we will have another healthy child in the very near future.

Good Luck, I will look out for you in the future.

Deeno X

HI

I had two m/c over 6 years then had DS who is now 4. I have two more m/c last year (one after seeing a heartbeat on a scan). I am hoping this year might be better. Not sure why they happened as all 4 m/c were different. Good luck.
