3rd miscarriage/chemical pregnancy blood tests expectations

Hi guys

On my 3rd chemical/MC and doctor has referred me to get bloods taken. With the GP for general ones and elsewhere to get specialist ones.

Wait list is apparently 4 months! And was thinking of going private? What kind of things should I be expecting to be tested for?

And did anyone get any reasons for why the possible MC/chemicals have been happening?

Thanks

On my 4th miscarriage I was referred to Recurrent miscarriage clinic. Nothing came from my bloods and I did end up having a DD 16 months later. When I got pregnant I had scans every 2 weeks then seen a specialist midwife all the way through. I did use progesterone but the doctor said it wouldn't cause any harm to try them so who knows if they helped. So for me even though nothing was found it was reassuring when I actually got pregnant again.

So sorry for your loss, it really is so shit.

So shit indeed!

Half hoping something comes up so it can be 'fixed' and also hoping nothing comes up so I don't have to wait on treatment!

The joys!

I felt like that, like surely there has to be a reason for the losses. I don't remember all the bloods but they did want to do hormone bloods around ovulation to make sure that was ok if I remember rightly.

Good luck, I hope you get some answers that will help.

We're in exactly the same boat - I've had three chemicals. I had a 'blood MOT' - they checked everything. All normal. The waiting time for gynae in my area is 14 months...so I paid for a private scan. All fine there too.

I'd recommend a private scan if you can, they'll look at your tubes and ovaries, the shape of your uterus etc. Should cost about £100. Saves you waiting months.

Good luck x

I might just do this!

What type/name was the scan?

@JuniperandI does a blood mot check for clotting issues etc? Xx

JuniperandI · 13/08/2022 19:57

The one I got was between days 8-12 of my cycle. She told me which was my dominate follicle that cycle too.

JuniperandI · 13/08/2022 19:58

@Isoldesun yes, the test I got did. Checked for a whole host of things.

When I had my blood tests with recent miscarriage clinic the nurse went through a massive history taking and questionnaire then decided on bloods from that. I had the usual bloods, one for clotting and also one for lupus. I'm not sure of the ones the GP does.
