I don't know how to put this. Has anyone miscarried after having a bump? How long did it take to go down?

I miscarried Monday before last, I was only around 6 weeks-ish, but being as freakish as I am, I already had a bump (same happened with perfectly healthy pregnancy last time).

I literally wake up with a bump, I went from my size 12's back to the 18's I had after giving birth last time, and the bump is still getting bigger by the day.

Facing questions and comments about the bump has been hard enough, but now I feel like I can't really start to get over the MC until the bump has gone.

So when did your's go?

I don't have any answers but just wanted to sent you sympathy. That seems very unfair of Mother Nature.

bethoo · 17/01/2008 11:02

when you ahve already had children your muscles are still loose so they 'pop' out a lot earlier than they did during your first pregnancy. i do not want to come across as insensitive but did you expel evreything duringthe miscarraige? i sympathise with you as during my second miscarraige i had a bump at 11 weeks though the baby had died several weeks before, the placenta was huge when i lost it. everybody is different as to when it will go. do you exercise as that would speed up the process?

sweetheart · 17/01/2008 11:04

Natalie,

I had a mc at 17 weeks. I had a bit of a bump and I took to excercise to get rid of it. I managed to get rid of the bump and excess weight within about 2 months. At which point I found out I was pregnant again!

largeginandtonic · 17/01/2008 11:05

NJ have you seen anyone yet? I really think you need to see your GP or someone at the EPU.

Mother nature is cruel and it may take a little while for it to go down. Thinking of you xxx

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 11:12

Thanks everyone.

Bethoo, yes I believe everything came away, and the bleeding has stopped, not got any pain or anything so I am quite convinced there is nothing left.

Sweetheart, apart from a couple of lbs I hadn't actually put much weight on, I don't think exercising is going to do anything. Besdies I have hardly eaten anything since it all happened, and have now actually lost 5lb (so I am now 3lb lighter than before)

LG&T, I haven't seen anyone, I can't face it, all the prodding and poking, the questions....

I suppose it was a silly question to ask, there will be as many different answers as to the question when did you get a bump.

Just wish it would go.

Natalie,

I'm sorry I was a little clinical - it's obviously still very raw for you.

I already had a dd when I had my mc and as bethoo said it's common for you stomach muscles to be weaker on 2nd, 3rd pregnancies.

I really found the excercise helped. After the mc I felt like my body was a bit alien to me and wasn't under my control. I joined a gym and I finally felt in control of myself again. I was doing something to get my body back AND I found it helped me to release the agression I was feeling. It helped me so much that when I fell pregnant again shortly afterwards I carried on going as a sort of therepy (I was so scared of loosing another baby).

ds has just turned 2 now so it's a long time ago. It's the anniversary of my mc next week and I can promise things do get better even though I know you won't be feeling that way at the moment.

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 11:48

That's OK Sweetheart, I am finding clinical easier to handle than sympathy at the moment.

I am sure once the bump has gone I will start to feel better, just fed up of all the nice old lady's asking when I'm due, and mums at school staring and whispering. Like I said, just wish it would go, soon.

So sorry to hear your news nataliejane.
Have just lost twins at 13 weeks and I had a very definite bump. Had ERPC last tuesday, bump still there, and getting looks at the school run. I know exactly how you're feeling. It is really crap.

Misdee · 17/01/2008 12:12

nj, i think maybe you need to see a doc, just to make sure everything is ok.

xx

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 12:16

So sorry Karma You never realise how many people go through this untill you are one of them.

Misdee, thanks, but I honestly couldn't face it, and like I said I am certain everything has come away.

It's just going to take time I guess.

The bump has gone, don't know if I am more or more but, it does feel like it is a definate end of the situation, so relieved I think is the best word to describe it

I can do my button up on my jeans again
