What is going on with my body?

I had an MVA for a miscarriage on the 30th March, I actually miscarried 7 weeks prior but I had retained products of conception and my period never came so I eventually had to have the surgery.

Just over 2 weeks later I got a positive clear blue ovulation test (solid smiley after about a week of flashing smileys) then 2 days later I had ovulation pain and about a week or more of spotting brown discharge (sorry for the tmi!) The only way I can describe it is that it felt like I was about to come on my period! I did a pregnancy test and thought I saw a very very faint positive (image attached) but then I followed this up with a clear blue digital test when my period didn't arrive and it was negative. I have since done dozens of the cheap dip tests and they are all negative.

It's now been about 3 weeks since ovulation and my period still hasn't arrived and that feeling that I'm about to 'come on' has disappeared completely, and I'm not spotting any more. I've been doing the one step ovulation tests and a few days ago the line was very dark, and have since got fainter.

I'm so fed and just don't understand what's going on with my body! Has anyone else had similar experiences? So fed up just want my period to come so I can start ttc again.

What is going on with my body?

Did you get a negative pregnancy test after the miscarriage and treatment to confirm your hormones had returned to none pregnant levels? It took me two weeks from confirmation of miscarriage to get a negative so that positive could just have been residual hormones. I'm sorry, the uncertainty and delay sucks

@ZoeQ90 hi, thanks for replying. Before I had the procedure I had a negative test and then a few days later I had a negative test too. But you're right it could just be that the test is picking up what's left. I'm just confused about why I haven't had a period yet, I am sure I ovulated over 3 weeks ago!

Hi OP,

I could have written your post! I too am waiting for my period after ovulating 3 weeks ago (according to my OPK) 2 weeks after my miscarriage at 9 weeks.

I don't have any words of advice as I am in exactly the same boat and am just desperate for my period to come and am really unsure why it hasn't.

I wonder if you might have had a chemical pregnancy after your miscarriage which might explain the positive then negative pregnancy tests? I think I might have had one too although I don't know if I'll ever know.

I've decided I'm going to call the Dr if my period hasn't come by next week - 6 weeks after the miscarriage and 4 weeks since ovulating. I'm not sure they can do anything but I feel like I need to discuss this with someone.

I am sorry you are going through this too - I really feel my body is letting me down too and I am just so upset that my miscarriage continues to dominate my body and that without my period I can't really move forward with TTC or the rest of my life!
Thank you for sharing and I hope the fact I'm in a v similar position brings some sort of comfort - I've Googled this situation a lot and have found nothing about it online.

@ASwimInAPondInTheRain hello thanks for replying! So sorry for your loss, I hope you've been coping ok 💐 How weird it sounds like we're in the exact same position! Did you have any symptoms as if you were going to come on around the time you should of? I did actually wonder the same thing about a chemical pregnancy but you're right, I guess we'll never know :( although I do think with a chemical pregnancy you'd bleed shortly afterwards? I think it's a good idea to contact your gp and I think I'll do the same, I'm away at the moment and it's literally all I can think of! It's just so frustrating! I'm really worried about scarring from my surgery too but I think I'm probably jumping to conclusions. I hope you find some answers soon, or get your period! Keep me posted x

Hey @helloimlaura, I wanted to ask what the outcome was in the end? It's been 9 weeks since my d&c but no period and I'm very certain I'm ovulating. Also terrified I have scarring.

laura2342 · 29/01/2023 18:35

@stardust1994 so sorry for your loss 💐 hope you're doing ok. I didn't end up being pregnant that time and my period did take quite a while to come after the surgery, I was worried about scarring too at the time but I really do think the chances of scarring are low they just have to tell you! I'm finally 14 weeks with my rainbow so it did work out in the end. If you are having ovulation signs that is definitely a good sign 🤞

stardust1994 · 29/01/2023 18:44

Thanks for replying and congrats 😊 I really hope it’s ok. Just a bit concerned that my temperatures seem to confirm ovulation as well yet nothing. Guess only time will tell 😬

blebbleb · 29/01/2023 18:48

Can you have a scan to double check everything is ok? It may just be your hormones out of whack still. I didn't check for ovulation but had a period 4 weeks after my MVA. They said to have a scan if my period didn't come within 3 weeks but I waited a bit longer.

laura2342 · 29/01/2023 22:20

@stardust1994 did they scan after the surgery to check all was ok? I think my period came around 7 weeks later so quite a while too, it's such a horrible waiting game :( you could ask for a follow up scan maybe, they might be able to see if you've ovulated too.
