How long did others bleed for with medical management?

Day 9, still get bouts of heavy bleeding even though I passed the sac on Sunday.

I get agonizing pain in the afternoon/evening that leaves me curled in bed unable to do anything, having to breathe through contractions as if I was in labour.

Went to EPU on Monday as pain was unbearable. Given codeine and told my cervix was closed so the miscarriage had finished - then why am I still in so much pain with random bouts of heavy bleeding? :(

I had it for weeks with my third miscarriage. Have you had a scan? You need to find out if there is anything left as it's an infection risk.

Sending you lots of hugs, and some hot water bottles for the pain.

Thank you so much for sharing! They won't do a scan until after 3 weeks and they said only if I test positive.

But from your experience, it sounds like it's normal to bleed for weeks?

Yes it surprised me at the time how long it lasted - at least three weeks of heavy bleeding with occasional pain / clots. And then another couple of weeks of lighter bleeding. As opposed to my other miscarriages (one at a later gestational age) that were "natural", also a lot of bleeding and some pain but over a much shorter time frame.

I did wonder at the time whether those drugs are really meant to manage miscarriages. I think it's very different in abortions where the hormone levels are different than from a pregnancy that is already lost. I'm not a doctor though.
