Medical management of miscarriage

Hi I was 9+3 weeks pregnant. I started bleeding yesterday and a scan confirmed there was no heart beat and it had stopped growing at 8 weeks. I have opted to take the tablets to speed up the process. I have taken a tablet orally today and have to insert 4 tablets on Wednesday. Has anyone got any advice/support? Any information about taking misoprostol? When is best to take it? How bad will it be? Feeling scared...SadConfused

Hello @Murphyy so sorry to hear what you are going through. Sadly I have been here three times all later in the second trimester so although I was in hospital it was the same procedure.

In July last year I also miscarriage at 8/9 weeks at home but didn't require the medical Managaement.

The only advice I can give you is Don't be scared, make sure you are not alone. Mentally prepare yourself and make sure you take some painkillers. My contractions always begin within the hour of the first dose but everyone is different.

How are you feeling at the moment?

Hi Thank you for your reply. I am feel quite calm today. My 2 year old is keeping me busy and entertained. I'm also nervous for tomorrow as that's when I've been told to take the 4 tablets. I guess I'm scared because I've read and heard so many different things. Such as it's like a heavy period or it's the pain was not far of labour etc. I know everyone is different and their bodies react different too. Also up and down with my emotions as to be expected x

@Murphyy I'm glad you're feeling calm. The tablets are to induce contractions which will help release tissue from the womb. As such It does feel like contractions but it is more bare able than a full labour.
The hospital can usually provide very strong painkillers to make it easier.

It will be like a very heavy period x

@CrazyDiamond60 that's no problem at all. If there is anything else you want to ask or just a bit of support I'm more than happy to help x
