Chemical Pregnancy light bleeding

Hi all, I have just recently had a chemical pregnancy at 5weeks. I’ve had two previous miscarriages so prepared myself for a similar experience. I only bled for 3 days and it was light-medium flow which is unusual for me. After having my first child 9 months ago my periods have been heavy ever since so I was surprised that this chemical bleed was so light. I’m worried that my body hasn’t expelled everything and that a future pregnancy may also end in miscarriage because of this. Am I over thinking this? Has anyone experienced this before and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy the following cycle?

Hi there KatePB.

Just popping on to bump this for you. Also to say I'm a veteran of many a miscarriage (two hulking kids now though so keep the faith) and I recall being told that there was no reason to wait between having a miscarriage and trying again other than for it to be clear for you where you were in your cycle. Which TBH can be really helpful just so you know where you're at, so a lot of people do wait a cycle in betwen TTC attempts.

But it's my (completely unqualified) belief that if you get pregnant on a next cycle after a miscarriage or chemical pregnancy, it's no less likely to be successful - just easier to date, and perhaps deal with should it all go wrong again, and perhaps less anxiety inducing should it all go right.

Could you maybe ask for a scan to check that everything has 'gone'? An EPAU might do that for you.

Maybe someone else will be along soon who knows different but that's the benefit of my years-old experience. Lots of positive thoughts to you anyway. Sorry to hear about the loss of this pregnancy. It's always a crappy thing to happen and a rough old time no matter how many times you've been through it. Hope next cycle is the one for you. Flowers
