Is it safe to bath in the middle of a miscarriage?

Hi everyone. Having a frustrating miscarriage, stopping and starting and lots of pain. I love my baths and really want one. I tend to soak in them for hours. Is it safe for me to do this whilst miscarrying? Did anyone else do this? My only thought is infection risk. I've called my EPU and they said they'd come back to me within 48 hours but I'd like a bath now if safe.
Thanks in advance.

Hello @Bloomers58, I had the D&C and the tablets and my hospital said no baths for two weeks because the cervix is open and it could cause an infection. I'm not sure if it's different if you are having a natural miscarriage.
Hope you are ok x I love a bath too x

Could you not have a bath with lavender oil but not use any soap? That is what the midwife recommended after giving birth

Sending you hugs

I'm a huge fan of hot water bottles, instant pain relief. hugs

I have a friend who did this during a miscarriage and she was ok and found it helped. I would just strongly suggest that you don’t bathe by yourself and have someone sitting in with you, in case you pass out or your condition worsens and you can’t get out again.

Thanks everyone. Responses much appreciated. I'll look into the lavender oil. I'm on my own so won't have anyone to sit with me. Maybe I'll wait until the worst of it is over/I've passed the sac x

sorry you are going through this right now x

Also so sorry that you are going through this and that no one is with you right now. Keep us updated if it helps.

Thank you everyone. For those asking this question in the future, EPU called back and said that the risk of bathing isn't infection, its injury. If you feel poorly in the bath it's difficult to get out and so they advise against it to prevent injury.

@bloomers58 that’s true. Just be sure to get in contact with someone nearby if you feel yourself taking a turn for the worst. Focus on yourself and getting through this as comfortably as possible x
