Hello ladies.

Sadly we get to meet on this board :( i was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage at almost 13 weeks. Fetal demise occurred at 8+2. Up until the day before my scan my pregnancy symptoms were present. On the day of the scan, a lot of my symptoms disappeared and i began to spot. This was on 8/7. Today its the 11th and i have had TONS of slippery mucus, sometimes mixed with red and sometimes a bit browner. Had cervix stabbing pains in the last couple of hours.

Is it normal to get so much mucus? I was washing myself down below in the shower and i just couldn’t get rid of the mucus. More and more kept appearing (tmi, i know).

Anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance.

Hi OP, I didn’t have the mucus when I miscarried at about the same point, just brown spotting followed by stringy red gunge that escalated into full on haemorrhaging (shudder) so I can’t help there, but I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you’re going through this. Any miscarriage is hideous but I found having one right at the time I’d expected to announce to friends and relax after the first trimester especially hard. Take care of yourself, and don’t hesitate to get help if the bleeding is bad. It took me longer than I’d expected to feel emotionally myself again, so if you struggle in the coming weeks please be gentle with yourself and come back to MN if you need support. Sending you Flowers. Xxx

Hi, thanks for your kind message. I have had a miscarriage in the past at a similar gestation but i cannot recall having so much mucus gunk! If i didn’t already know i was pregnant and miscarrying (and in the absence of red streaks), i would honestly mistake it for ovulation fertile mucus!

I have made peace with my loss. Worst of all, i was alone at the scan.

I just want to pass the pregnancy now so that i can move on. I do have a d&c booked for fri in case i don’t pass anything by then.

I am also sorry that you experienced a miscarriage. Life is so cruel at times...

Poor you, that sounds really unsettling. I do often get that sort of thing before my period, and I assume then it’s because progesterone levels are falling but oestrogen levels stay high a bit longer? Could be something like that?
It’s horrible that you had to be alone at the scan. Was that a COVID thing? I think these restrictions are really inhumane. I’ll be forever grateful that my loss started a couple of days before the dating scan so I could find out in private and at home. It sounds like you’re coping incredibly well, though. Hoping for you that it will be over soon. Xxx
