Will retained products come out with a period?

Hi ladies.
I had medical miscarriage about 3 half weeks ago, I was 6 weeks.
I have retained product just under 3cm left, I am booked for an mva tomorrow.
I was told the retained products had a bloody supply to it.
I am no longer bleeding with intermittent cramps.
I am wondering is it worth waiting for my period to see if it will come out.
Have you ladies had any experience of this ? The consultant said you can still have a period despite testing positive, as the lower level of pregnancy hormone won't stop a period. Any advice?

@Mamamia1470 it took me 10 weeks from finding out, having surgery followed by a period then medical management to get my all clear on the 20th Aug. But during that scan she put me mid cycle at ovulation and said everything was looking good to try again. If your wanting it to stay natural it might be worth waiting for your next period then go for another scan to see if it has released on its own? Instead of the D&C could you ask for the hystoscopy? It’s pretty much the same but they use a camera to ensure it’s all been removed I think from what I’ve read (I could be wrong and I do apologise if I am) more to the point, I hope your ok!

hiya what ended up happening?

i ended up having a period and it cleared it all naturally - had a follow up scan and was given the all clear to start trying again. It’s been 3 months and still waiting for my rainbow baby.

was your period light? did your tissue have blood supply i know this is tmi how did you know you had passed what was left did they just look like blood clots?

It was a normal period but I noticed one clot tissue clump come out which I think was the retained product. I only had 1-1.5cms of retained product which is why I wasn’t offered a dnc. Had to be larger than 2.5cms in my country.

It all passed by itself with period. They said blood supply was super minimal to it on review. I had ultrasound scans before and after to make sure it was all clear.

@Mamamia1470 oh so products can still pass with blood supply to them? Does the blood supply have to stop for it to pass

I had to do the medical abortion secretly with involvement of my parents as I'm unmarried(age-24yrs). I have supportive boyfriend and my bestie who had take care of me through out the procedure of abortion and hospital appointments.I had a medical abortion of about 7 weeks on 17 nov 2023, misoprostal on 20 nov 2023 and after that due to rpoc and lining of approx 25-30mm(I don't remember extactly)I was given methergine for 3 days starting 27-30 nov but on 2dec I had really heavy bleeding with clots in a public transport and the next day 3 dec again I was heavy bleeding(1 pad for 15/20 mi n) for 12hr and was collapsed due to it, I had to made call to the hospital as it was emergency and they told me to take pause mf to stop the bleeding and take appointment for the next.I was with my family and had my brother to handle it without telling my parents ( visiting hospital was not an option for me).

I’ve been bleeding for 3 months and have had 3 lots of medical management but still have retained tissue after 3 months and it’s 2cm with blood supply to it I’ve been prescribed northistrone for 21 days which stops bleeding then 7 days break which they believe will expel it and then 21days again with 7 day break and if that hasn’t worked they want to do a hysteroscopy. They said my case is rare because my pregnancy blood test and urine sample is negative now which but the tissue has blood supply to it. Is it likely this will pass on its own? I’ve been having huge bleeds and I’m now anemic but the northisterone tablets are stopping it now. Can I have sex now if my bleeding stops?
