First period after miscarriage but still faint positive test

Has anyone had their first period after miscarriage before getting a negative test?

I bled for 8 weeks following my miscarriage, only stopping a week and a half ago. I have just started bleeding again but my tests are still a v v faint positive. Wondering if this is more miscarriage bleeding or if it could be my first AF.

Any help greatly appreciated! Feeling very fed up with it all now.

Sorry about your miscarriage op. It does seem a long time to bleed and to not have a negative test yet. It might be worth contacting the epu for a scan to be 100pc sure there is nothing retained. They told me to go back for a second scan if no negative test within 4 weeks.
Good luck xxx

I agree to get checked for retained products xx

Good luck

And sorry for your loss

Sorry I should have said (it’s just a long story and I’m bored of it 😂)

I did go back for a scan at 3 weeks and did have retained product but at 5 weeks was told it was gone. Did go back again at 8 weeks again but stopped bleeding the next day.

Now, a week and a half later, I have just started bleeding again. Could this be my period, despite still having a faint positive?

Hi @Elsie2021,
I was at the EPU today, 5 weeks post MVA for miscarriage. I have been bleeding over the last few days and had a bit of cramping today, and am still testing positive.
When they scanned me today they did find retained products but could also see evidence of "activity" on the ultrasound that suggested the new blood is actually my period. The doctor said that as long as your HCG is falling you can have your period even if it's not at 0 yet. I didn't realise that was the case! So, yes, it seems very possible to me. Hope this helps.
