Retained products treatment after surgical mmc

Hi, I had surgical management of mmc 3 weeks ago and as I was still bleeding and testing positive I was rescanned and found to have retained products. I was given a lot of information about how to proceed but wanted time to think about it so I'm waiting a week to be rescanned then if there isn't any change will decide from there. The nurse said it was unlikely there will be a change so need to think about having a repeat SMM or try out medical management. Has anyone else had this, and what did you do? I'm worried about having a repeat op and how it may impact my fertility but also don't want to go through the medical as I've heard it can be pretty unpleasant and I have 2DC to look after so not sure how practical it will be.

Sorry for you loss 💗
I had surgical management for mmc was a total failure went for a scan to find retained product. Ended up going for a hysteroscopy (camera) to locate the retained product, and d&c plus mva all in about 2 hours. And honestly if it ever happens again I would just instantly go for the mva a bit uncomfortable but it worked for me
Hope this helps a little

Also forgot to add
I was up and about within the same day, cramps and bleeding but paracetamol helped

Thank you for replying @Waterb0ttle I'm glad it was all sorted eventually, it's so crap isn't it, you'd think having surgical from the off would sort everything out. I've got my repeat scan tomorrow so I'm hoping something will have shifted.

Yes I thought surgery was the best way forwards until I went for a second scan after 2 months of bleeding. The scan showed alot of retained product so had the awful choice to make again. The nurse actually told me the tablets don't always work and can sometimes take you back to square one. That's why I had the hysteroscopy and mva, honestly it was uncomfortable but would recommend to anyone wish I'd had done that to begin with 😊 let me know what you choice is please
