Bleeding, clots, cramps but rising hcg, (tripled in 48 hours)

Hi can someone please shed some light for me, so I started bleeding Wednesday (threatened miscarriage) had hcg bloods done Thursday, 384 they did scan and couldn’t see anything at all then had hcg done again two days later they were 431, because they hadn’t risen much they said miscarriage was inevitable, that night I was in so much pain and passed a large clot, I had to go for bloods today to make sure they were coming down and they’ve risen to 1221. Has anyone gone through this. They really puzzled and said pregnancy looks to be progressing and I’ve got a scan tomorrow, I’m just puzzled as I was grieving as if I lost my baby and now I’m confused. I have no idea what’s happening to me as I’m still cramping and light bleeding now with tissue type clots (very small)

Also to add I conceived on clomid. (Fertility tablets to ovulate)

Hi @Charliel87 is it possible to lose one and keep one? My last miscarriage was similar to what I’ve gone through by my hcg dropped very quickly x

@WorriedD93 it is possible to MC only one embryo if more than one.

How pregnant did you think you were (eg how many weeks)?

Could it be ectopic? My hgc levels were really high and rising for a while when I had mine.

@saffire I had internal ultrasound and they checked my ovaries and knew which one released an egg so wouldn’t they have known by then as would it have been seen?

Nothing on scan, possibility of ectopic.. I don’t even know what to think tbh! :(

I had similar recently - rising HCG levels but they haven't been able to see anything on two scans. They said it was 'pregnancy of unknown location' and I've had methotrexate to stop it growing. But my HCG levels are a lot lower than yours and were only rising a few percent at a time.
Have they suggested what to do next? Are they still monitoring your HCG?
I'm so sorry, it is so confusing. The consultant I saw said she was confused too.

@lotus37 they’ve admitted me to the ward, I have to wait for my bloods to come back then depending on that to whether I have the drug or surgery. I’m just scared incase baby is there and we just can’t see them for some reason. I’m just really scared right now. How did you feel about having the drug?

I didn't really want to have it mainly because of not being able to try to conceive again for a few months as I'm in my late 30s. The first doctor said I could choose whether to wait it out and see if the levels came down on their own or have the injection. But when I decided to wait they said I really should have the injection as the numbers were still rising. In my case the numbers were too low for a pregnancy to be viable, I'd had a lot of bleeding and all my pregnancy symptoms had disappeared so I felt very definitely that nothing was there.
Could you ask them for another scan before making decisions? Have they said whether your HCG levels are high enough for them to definitely be able to see something if it was in the right place? I think they worry when HCG levels are rising so quickly but they can't see anything, and rupture is a risk.

@lotus37 they said they’d deffo see something if it was there levels only had risen to 1400 so confirmed ectopic I have to come back for injection on Friday :( x

@WorriedD93 Im so sorry to hear how this has turned out. I did the same before my MMC surgery - asked them to double check. So I completely understand that feeling.

@WorriedD93 Hi I came across your post and was really sad to hear about your loss. I have been diagnosed with a pregnancy in an unknown location. My hcg has only went from 95 to 125 in 4 days. I've been told to do another blood test on 31st to double check it isn't a new pregnancy just beginning however it's unlikely as all my scans are completely empty.

I was meant to be getting mine yesterday but after the 125 hcg they've put it on hold until repeat bloods on 31st.

I don't feel unwell and haven't had any bleeding for 4 weeks so I'm really unsure what's going on 🙄 I'm just curious how you felt after the injection? I think I've scared myself into think it's going to make me really ill afterwards

@canitbesimple hi, I had the injection 2 weeks ago tomorrow. My numbers haven’t decreased so I have to look at options tomorrow, if your not unwell I wouldn’t worry too much as hcg is still low. I didn’t feel unwell either, I just had bleeding. And lost a large clot after cramping then nothing since but hcg still rising, they scanned me again at 1649 hcg and still nothing (they should be able to see something at this point) I knew my pregnancy wasn’t going to work as my numbers weren’t doubling every time. I hope your just early and your pregnancy progresses.

Thank you @WorriedD93. I feel like as my hcg isn't double either I need to just accept my fate that pregnancy isn't progressing. You can't help but want to hold on another week but it's now another week of torturing googling and false hope 😞

@canitbesimple I totally understand that, I made myself so poorly googling everything. I’m still in limbo now as my bleeding and everything has stopped and injections don’t appear to have worked xx
