Miscarried, period and still positive test

I had a miscarriage 5 weeks ago I have still been getting positive tests I also came in my period 5 days ago still bleeding (tmi) fresh blood like a nose bleed and passed small clots when started bleeding again . I was advised by my sister who is a midwife to test again as I miscarried at 4 weeks along and hcg was 40 a week after me but I tested two days ago and today and still positive. I thought hcg was supposed to drop to 0? I’m so confused anyone had the same ?

I have a feeling I may have conceived and miscarried again😩 going to call go or epau tomorrow.

After mc at just over 6 weeks I was still testing positive 5 weeks later, despite bleeding heavily for the whole time. The fertility unit actually rescanned me as it was an IVF pregnancy & two embryos had been put back so they wanted to check there hadn’t been a second embryo hanging on in there. Sadly not.
