Had a miscarriage before Christmas and periods haven’t returned to normal, but tonight I felt this come away. (Was about 8 weeks when miscarriage happened)

Sorry I know it’s horrible but I’m wondering if that’s why things haven’t gone back to normal? It’s hard and like nothing I’ve ever seen... it doesn’t smell great either....

I wonder if thats the end of it now? And everything has come away?

Had no pains or anything at all, just spotting for weeks and weeks. It’s about as long as a 10p but not as thick.

I feel completely fine

I'm sorry for your loss ❤️ it does look a bit like retained tissue to me - did you have a scan after your miscarriage?

I had a loss in October and I had very dark, almost black blood every day following what I thought was my first period, but it didn't seem right (I've had 3 other miscarriages and it wasn't like any of those). I also had a tender feeling in my pelvis but no real obvious signs of retained tissue. As my tests were negative the epu wouldn't scan me, but my GP did prescribe antibiotics and 3 days after I finished them, I passed some tissue similar to your photo and then I had a proper period. My cycle has settled back to normal now.

How are you feeling in yourself? Xx

Thank you for your reply. I’m sorry to hear about your loss too. Xx

I feel fine in that there’s no pain at all, no tenderness and apart from heavy bleeding at the start, it settled down pretty quickly.

There was always spotting and a tinge of colour and I did wonder if there was retained products, but I done a pregnancy test and it was negative so I assumed there couldn’t be retained products.

It’s the first miscarriage I’ve had so not sure what’s normal or not. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been through it several times, must be very difficult.

I didn’t have a scan. They weren’t really interested as I have been otherwise fine.

Are you bleeding now? I'd book in with your GP and have a chat with them. It could be you have now passed everything. My GP referrwd me for an urgent scan - it wasn't with an epu, so I had that a week after I passed the tissue and they confirmed I had passed everything and it looked like I'd just had my period. It did reassure me. I thought the same as you, if my tests were negative it wasn't retained tissue. But it's definitely worth getting checked out.

With my first loss the epu did scan me after my miscarriage and that was really reassuring, but I don't kniw if it's due to covid or procedures have changed but they don't check now. My first loss was nearly 2 years ago now.

I hope you're OK xx

Hi @Hipww passing the tissue kickstarted my period, so pretty much straight away. I had a 45 day cycle from mu initial miscarriage / medical management.
I'm sorry you're going through this
