Misoprostol or D&C? Pain level, what will make me conceive again ASAP?

Hi ladies, like you I am stuck in this sh*tty situation. I had a MMC at 6 weeks, now supposed to be 8w today. My doctor wants me to make a decision by Monday and isn't comfortable leaving it much longer.

Honestly my #1 priority is to conceive again and quickly. Which option is supposed to be quickest in that regard? I'm afraid of scarring i.e. Ashermans with the D&C but afraid of pain, bleeding, and incomplete MC with the misoprostol.

I conceived both my daughter and this bean the first try. My doctor said she'd prefer I waited a cycle before trying again but that isn't necessary and we could figure out GA with a dating scan.

If you have any experience please tell me the good bad and the ugly. How long did it take to conceive your rainbow after either method?

Well I had surgery but still needed medical management due to retained products. Bleeding was minimal but I'd had 98% removed in surgery. It took 7 weeks to get a negative pregnancy test and a period.

I had surgical management. Over very quickly and little pain. The hospital was very reassuring and the risks involved (they tell me) are very small. That was two weeks ago and I feel like my body is gearing up for my period now.

If you're scared of pain and bleeding go for the D&C. I found medical management traumatic and really painful and couldn't deal with the amount of blood (although I understand this will be different for everyone).

The benefits of the medical management are that you're at home, can have your partner with you etc.

I ended up needing surgical management anyway and it was very straightforward, put to sleep, woke up, no pain, v minimal bleeding. Went on to get pregnant without any problems 8 months later.

Sorry for what you're going through xx

I’m sorry for your loss. I had medical management which didn’t completely work and needed surgery months later. The pain from medical management was manageable but the bleeding was a lot, and tbh it was traumatic, although it was at a late gestation so that may be a factor. I found the surgery quick and painless.

I had surgery which was great and v straightforward. Took ages to get a period back (8 weeks) but that will have been partially because I was 12 weeks

*sorry I mean that at 12 weeks hcg is v high, which is probably why I took ages to get a period after
