Good luck! Are you going to be in hospital or at home?

Everyone seems to have very differing experiences, but mine wasn't pleasant so I won't go into it - take it easy, be kind to yourself and make sure you have all the pain killers you need (and I found a hot water bottle my best friend!) x

pingit · 22/09/2020 10:55

They're going to administer the tablets at hospital and then I can go home after a couple of hours. Most things I've read seem to suggest jts pretty unpleasant so kinda dreading it, but I know the situation could be much worse.

Thank you for your reply @Amz6219 x

That's good though, at least they can keep an eye on you.

I had to administer it myself at home, twice because first time didn't work!

Hopefully it will all go as smoothly as possible for you, fx

xx

pingit · 22/09/2020 17:39

Did the second lot work @Amz6219? I'm sorry you had to go through that twice.

I had it 3 hours ago and have had period pain since, but definitely starting to feel some quite intense pains very similar to early labour. Hoping that's a good sign and means it will work.

Sort of... had a lot of cramping and bleeding/clots which then settled over a day or two but ended up with the sac stuck in my cervix a week later (what I thought I had passed must've just been clots!), then still had retained tissue after 6 weeks - but this is very unusual, I am just very unlucky!!

Hope it has all gone well for you? xx

pingit · 23/09/2020 13:45

@Amz6219 I have no idea to be honest. I'm very confused.

I started bleeding 4.5 hours after the tablets. Pains were quite bad but I took a painkiller that they'd given me and it was manageable. I bled relatively heavily (but no more than a heavy period) for a couple of hours, during which time I passed two decent sized clots and a few v small pieces of greyish / white tissue on the loo. But then nothing more - just v light bleeding, only mild period pain.

So how do I know whether it worked really well and there just wasn't much to pass, or whether it just hasn't really worked at all.

I know i was v early (9.5 weeks but baby stopped growing around 6 weeks) but scan on Monday said the sac measured nearly 4cms. Surely I'd have noticed that passing? I did feel the clots pass but didn't see any sac. But maybe it just passed with the clots straight into the loo, or maybe it got broken up. I don't know. Feeling a bit anxious that I don't know whether it's over or not.

I had just a medium level period first time so I called EPU to say I don’t think it’s worked, so they had me back for a scan which confirmed it so was given second dose.

I’d contact EPU to say you don’t think you’ve passed the sac and hopefully they’ll scan to check.

Annoying that there’s no real way of checking and no follow up! Xx

tikha · 25/09/2020 16:38

@pingit you should get a followup scan following medical management especially if you think you haven't much.

CrazyFooLady · 27/09/2020 14:37

Hi I had medical management one weds, it was bloody horrible.
Liquid poop that I couldn't control and I even farted and shat myself at one point.
I have a feeling I had actually passed most of the pregnancy on the Monday as I had lots of heavy bleeding and pain.
Since taking the tablets I've had normal period bleeding that has stopped today.
Only thing bugging me now is the horrible dizziness and feeling weak, I'm guessing that's probably down to the lack of iron x

Amz6219 · 29/09/2020 15:28

You have to laugh or you would cry wouldn't you @CrazyFooLady! I can't even describe it! Recommend the iron sachets you can get on amazon (Spatone I think they are called), although I ended up on super strength prescription ones for 2 months in the end!

How are you getting on @pingit ?? xx

pingit · 30/09/2020 13:11

I'm ok thank you @Amz6219. Had a scan which shows the sac and baby have passed, but lots of pregnancy tissue remaining. I had the option of surgery today; trying medical management again, or waiting to see what happens.

They did a fairly aggressive internal scan (was painful!) and that seems to have increased the bleeding volume significantly. I'm hoping when I go back next week the scan will show most of it has passed naturally. Fingers crossed! Desperate for this all to be over with, I feel like it's been going on forever!

Hi. Sorry jumping on this thread quite late. I started medical management for a MMC this afternoon. Tablets inserted at around 4pm and not had anything yet. Been wearing a thick maternity pad from EPU and there's not even a wee spot of blood.

I just feel like my body has already failed me for not letting me know that my baby had stopped developing and it's failing me again by not responding to the medication.

EPU said to call them on Tuesday with an update, but I'm tempted to call tomorrow when it's been 24 hours as I feel like I'm in limbo with nothing happening. I'd much rather go through the physical pain of something actually happening than the emotional anguish of waiting for something to happen.

I just want this to be over so I can think about moving on...

krj2608 · 02/10/2020 20:54

Hi my situation was similar to yours.

I lost baby around 31st July/ early august. Didn't find out until the end of august. I had medical management on the 1st September. But ended up still having a positive test on 22nd September. I went in for a scan and pregnancy tissue remained. Bleeding then stopped and I had a negative test today. It's very long and drawn out! I hope you are doing ok x

pingit · 03/10/2020 12:52

@KeepSmiling89 how are you doing now? Hope all is ok

@krj2608 I think my bleeding is finally easing off a little. It's still there but seems to have been much lighter in the last few hours. Pregnancy tests are still very strongly positive. I was expecting them to still be positive but did think the line would be fading a bit, but it's still way stronger than the control line. It's been 11 days since I passed the baby and sac so I'm hoping they will start to fade soon. Scan next week to check all has cleared x

Aw bless you, yes mine stayed positive for ages afterwards, (31days to get a negative) it really does take a long time. I think I finally ovulated yesterday. So not sure how long until my first period! I hope your hcg levels start to decrease x

KeepSmiling89 · 03/10/2020 13:00

@pingit Getting there slowly but surely. I spoke to soon and started bleeding not long after I posted on here! Woke up at 3.15am with contractions (I'm guessing its what Labour feels like) for about 2 hours and lots more bleeding.
Had cramping all day yesterday...more like period pain. Felt pregnancy tissue last night and DH and I saw our baby when I pulled something out (we assumed that's what it was anyway). That hit us both really hard today. Still bleeding but thankfully no more contractions and cramps are still quite mild. Bleeding more evident when I wipe but still seeing it in my pads...no soaking through or anything.
Think I've still got some tissue to pass so taking it a day at a time. Will update EPU on Tuesday as recommended.

Hope you're doing OK as well.
