Trying again after late miscarriage

Hi there,

I recently lost my first child, a daughter at 23 weeks gestation. I went into labour too early, they couldn’t stop it and she was just a little too young to try and save..the consultant thinks it was most likely because of an incompetent cervix. I feel atm that all I want is another baby- which I know is quite common in these circumstances.
Was wondering if anybody else had another baby quite soon after the loss of their last?
Thanks
@No1worrier hi there, thank you and I’m sorry that you’re going through something similar. How are you doing? I actually conceived after 5 months of trying, my body was clearly just not ready yet. Tbh I think my mind needed the time too as well, as much as I hate to admit it! Counselling has really helped.
So I’m expecting again and absolutely terrified- it’s hard when the worst has already happened because you can’t help but think it’s going to happen again. Just trying to take each day as it comes.
Thank you for your reply, I also lost my daughter at nearly 23 weeks. I am waiting for my first AF to try which should appear next week. I confirmed ovulation after my loss by temping and opks but didn't try. Thought I would give my body to recover, exercise and eat better. Also taking my vitamins.

I'm still off work at the moment and I just feel so low. Some days I don't leave my bed, some days I can get up and shower and go a walk. You've given me hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel. It doesn't feel like there is right now.

I hope you start to relax soon and enjoy it. I can imagine I will be the exactly the same as you though. I was already anxious never mind adding a loss of my baby in the mix. Hope you are keeping well and good luck with your rainbow baby ❤🌈 x

Hello all I'm wondering if you can help me i had a MMC detected on 9th March with surgery on the 15th of March. On 5th April i got a negative pregnancy test (supermarket branded). Im pretty sure I ovulated 5/6 ays later.
I am yet to start my AF and today is 5 weeks since surgery and so I took a test this morning which i think shows an extremely faint line! The thing is this morning test was a First Response which i know detect lower levels of HCG. Is it a possibility that it's detected hormones from the MMC given my negative before was with a supermarket branded test? Although I'm pretty certain I ovulated shortly after the first test.
Any advise would be really appreciated my MMC was my first pregnancy and its all very confusing.....

Norasmum · 19/04/2021 10:25

@SamBass I’m so sorry. I think your best bet is to go to the hospital and they can give you a scan to check if there is something there. It sounds positive if you’ve had a negative test since but best to be sure. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏼 Let us know how you get on x

@Norasmum thank you for reply 😌 it is as I expected really could be either. I think i will test again at the end of the week and see if its fainter or darker and go from there. As you can see it is a very faint line from this morning

@SamBass how many days are you past ovulation? x

SamBass · 22/04/2021 12:01

@Boo2020

Im not 100% sure as i had a MMC detected on 9th March (8weeks) with surgery on the 15th of March. On 5th April i got a negative pregnancy test (supermarket branded). Im pretty sure I ovulated 5/6 ays later.
I am yet to start my AF and Monday coming will be 6 weeks since surgery. The thing is this morning test and Mondays was a First Response which i know detect lower levels of HCG. Is it a possibility that it's detected hormones from the MMC given my negative before was with a supermarket branded test? Although I'm pretty certain I ovulated shortly after the first test.

@Norasmum i thought so too would just expect it to be alot more darker really...

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 22/04/2021 19:33

@Boo2020 I was 9 weeks when I had my 4th miscarriage back in Sept 19 and bled for 5 weeks after, but my follow up scan showed I was still retaining tissue so that's why. My periods didn't return properly until around January February last year and even now they still aren't regular. I did have another very early loss last month but I only bled for around 5 days with that one. One thing I have noticed now though during my period is for the first few days I have the most horrendous cramps.

They say it doubles every 2 days normally, maybe try again on Saturday?

OP posts:
SamBass · 22/04/2021 20:20

@Norasmum yeah i saw that it should double every 2 day that why i thought today's would have been much darker than Mondays 🤷🏽‍♀️😞

Boo2020 · 22/04/2021 23:06

@SamBass ermm that's a tricky one then! I have to admit when I mmc i was still showing positive 6 weeks later even on cheapies, I would just keep testing and see if it goes any darker..I really hope it is just slow progression for you🤞🏾 x

Boo2020 · 22/04/2021 23:14

@HopingForOurRainbowBaby yes I was and I am still like that since my mmc last August, my cycles are still not regular either buy I have had my bloods done which have come back normal so it's just a waiting game 😔..I've got to admit my periods were really painful, its only really stopped in the last couple of months where now there a bit more bearable. I'm sorry for your loss, its horrible to go through but don't give up x

Boo2020 · 30/04/2021 18:57

@No1worrier hi there 😊 me personally not doing to bad, I miscarried last August at 10 weeks and still no luck on that front 😔 how are you? So sorry your going through this...sending love ❤

babybumpfor2021 · 01/05/2021 16:10

I'm shocked to discover how common 'late' miscarriages are! My baby was born sleeping at 16+1 on Tuesday 27th April.

We tried for 2.5 years for this baby, with help of clomid. I just want my baby.

Norasmum · 01/05/2021 18:38

@babybumpfor2021 I’m so sorry 💔
Yes, I had no idea until it happened to me. Wishing all of the strength for you and your partner. It’s a long road ahead but it will get easier x

babybumpfor2021 · 05/05/2021 08:39

@Norasmum thank you,

Did you try again for your rainbow baby? I'm struggling to think of a future with a baby, and the heartache of ttc again

Norasmum · 05/05/2021 10:03

@babybumpfor2021 Yes we tried, the first month it was a guilty feeling like we were trying to replace her and I had really mixed feelings of how I’d feel if I had a positive test that month. But after a few months of negatives I’d become a bit obsessed and was just desperate to be honest. Conceived again in Feb and I’m currently 14 weeks, it’s scary and I’m high risk so having completely different care and just feels completely different to last time. We haven’t told anybody apart from my immediate family. My husbands parents don’t even know yet! Didn’t want to put too much pressure on and just taking each day as it comes.
A friend of mine had a similar experience to me and has had another child since. She said she believes the baby she lost had a purpose because if what happened hadn’t have happened she wouldn’t have their little brother and it was like they bought him to them. I just thought it was a really lovely way to think of it. God willing all goes okay with this pregnancy 🙏🏻 I have a box filled with memories and photos of their big sister that we can look at and speak about and she can still be a big part of our lives and live on.

@babybumpfor2021 i am so sorry for what you have had to go through, I hope with time and the help if the ladies on her you can start to feel better soon.

I've been quiet on hear lately as my head is all over the place. This coming Monday i will be 8 weeks since surgery following a MMC (HB stopped at 9 weeks) and still no AF. 3 weeks after surgery i got a negative pregnancy results on a supermarket test. At 5 weeks i got a faint positive on FRER and have continued to get the same faint positive test tight up until 3 days ago. I have blood test on 26.03,21 to test my hcg levels and have just been told this morning its come back as boarder line so now im back on Monday for further blood tests.
Also the past two weeks i have bled after intercourse and sorry tmi but had discharge/spotting of a dark brown colour.
Has anyone experienced this? Can anyone shed any light at all as im so confused my head is all over....
