Do I need to use contraception for the 1st month?

Forgot to ask my doctor. I had a surgical management of a mmc. Just wondering whether we need to use condoms until the first period/ttc again. Thinking about avoiding any minor infections until I know for sure I've healed. What were you told? Thanks!

I think it was until the bleeding stops to avoid infection. I gave it a few more days after that too maybe even a two weeks (same for baths and swimming and tampons). Bit vague sorry.

If you want an easy to date pregnancy wait until your first proper period or if you don't want to conceive and are avoiding.

Thank you! I also thought that they would have mentioned it if it was a definite no go

Hi there, sorry you are going through this.
I had a mmc last month at 8wks and had an mva on 22nd June.
I was told to wait until the bleeding has stopped before having sex to prevent infection and advised to wait until after 1st period before ttc.
I think this is mainly for dating purposes according to the miscarriage association, but I think it's a good idea to enable your body to reset and get rid of anything that's left.
I had a negative hpt 3 weeks after (although was so negative I suspect if I'd tested earlier it would have also been negative) and my period came 5 days later thankfully.
Xx

Hi, I have suffered a missed miscarriage and have my surgical procedure tomorrow (MVA) under general. I have started spotting today and am hoping my body doesn't punish me more by starting naturally as I just want this over. Do they advise waiting 3 weeks to test? I have given myself August to recover and get myself fit and healthy before considering trying again but reading about chances of more success within 3 months motivates me to try again xxx
