Results of chromosome abnormalities after D&C

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long it will take to get the results of the abnormalities testing following my miscarriage/D&C. My D&C was last week and that part was so rushed I never got to ask (they forgot to do the consent form until just before I was going for the surgery). I can’t seem to find anything online to give a timescale etc. X

Hi there, sorry you are going through this.
I had a mmc last month, had an mva on 22 June (a d&c but under local anaesthetic).
I was told they would only be checking the tissue to make sure it wasn't a molar pregnancy (although unlikely given the shape of the foetus and 8wks).
I don't think they generally test for abnormalities until you are much further along and sadly miscarry or if it's your 3rd miscarriage...this may be your case and if so my heart goes out to you and I hope someone else on the board can shed some light for you.
I was told my results would be 6wks ish.
Look after yourself. Xx

@Candyflosscrochet thanks for replying and sorry for your loss. I didn’t think I would be offered as this was my first miscarriage but they did and we were through a consent form for the testing. Unless I have misunderstood or it’s not been explained properly 🤷🏻‍♀️ (Which could be likely as the same woman explained something different and didn’t explain it right). I won’t get my hopes up for results just incase xx

Mine was a 5/6 weeks wait. They told me which chromosomes were missing.

Is this a new thing? I didn't know they did chromosome testing on miscarriages . Hope you get the results soon

I don't know that you get it on the NHS. I had to pay for mine.

My MMC (first pregnancy) was at 12 weeks, baby stopped growing at 9. They thought it was a partial molar pregnancy because of the shape around the baby so asked me to have a D&C to test. I got the results 4 weeks later later (no issues for me, so please try not to worry).

Thank you all for your replies.

@onedaysoonish mine was offered by NHS. Not sure why though as this was my first miscarriage.

@huuunderickssss I’m not sure how new it is. This is my first miscarriage and not something I’ve looked into. I believe you usually have to have had 3 miscarriages before it’s offered though.

Hi just wanted to reply and share my experience. Had a D&C with second miscarriage and was under the same impression as you OP that I would hear about any chromosomal abnormalities. I waited a few weeks and a letter arrived which basically said they can confirm they removed pregnancy tissue. Looks like I maybe misunderstood what they would test for. Hope you hear something soon x

@hellymum21 thank you for responding. The woman did say that tissue would be taken for testing. But she gave me incorrect information on something else so she could have been mistaken. I won’t hold my breath. X
