Hi All,

I am looking for a bit of advice, I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks but things hadnt progressed past 5/6 weeks.

Things didn't start until a week after thescan and after 3 weeks of really heaby bleeding and clots I was admitted to hospital for a blood transfusion they gave me antibiotics and things finally started looking like they were calming down to only spotting/blood when I wiped and then nothing for a couple of days. Now I feel like the bleeding is picking up again and I feel like my stomach is a bit tender.

I'm just worried that things arnt over and its been about 7 weeks since I first started bleeding but I don't know how long to wait before ringing the epu. I dont want to call them up oby to be told to keep waiting ( I called alot of times regarding my bleeding before I was finally looked at so ive been a bit put of ringing.

Has anyone had spotting/ light bleeding up until their first period. The doctor who discharged me said I have a really small amount of tissue left and that it should pass in my next period but I'm confused and thought my period wouldnt start till the matrial fully passes.

Sorry for all the tmi but I'm just desperate to see the end of this any advice appreciated

X

I had small amounts of bleeding up to my first period which was then really heavy.
The dr said this was normal for me.... but I also got an infection just before my period (7 weeks after mmc) so the two aren't mutually exclusive.
I would keep a close eye on your temperature and go to the dr if the pain gets more noticeable or if you get a fever even if it is not too high a fever.

I also think I passed a small amount of tissue with my first period.
Have you had your Hcg checked recently? It is this getting to zero which tells your body it's time for a period.

Hi @pinappleunder

Thank you so much for your reply very reassuring that I could still be on my way to getting a period its like every time I bleed even a little I feel like I'm further and further away from getting my period. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative but I don't know if that means my level are zero?

I'm guessing they gave me antibiotics when I was in the hospital because I had an infection? To be honest they didn't say jist discharge me with iron tablets and atibiotics and said call if any problems.

Since I've been home though I have had heaches, pains down the arm that I had my canulat in and now pain I'm my armpit but k keep putting it all down to hormones and paranoia. They also mentioned they couldn't outrule a polyp in my uterus but then never mentioned it again. I've just lost confidence in the system and felt like not calling because they didn't take me seriously about the blood loss for so long xx

One of the things I have found hardest about a mmc has been waiting for bleeding to start, then desperately wanting it to stop, then wanting it to start again (period) then wanting it to stop.
I was where you are just one month ago and I really felt like I would never feel 'normal' again.
I was also told unhelpfully by the hospital that if I thought it was an emergency to go to a&e and if not then there's nothing they can do. I felt so scared that it was up to me to make the right call.
It was when I had womb pain like a bruise that I went to my GP and she referred me on and for bloods. I live abroad so it will be a different system I expect.
If you can get to the gp could they order blood tests to see if you have any inflammation markers?

Can they tell by your bloods that you have inflammation? Do you mean of the uterus? Thank you so much you have been so much help sorry that you have been In the same position as me . Your so right though to go from being desperate for a positive test to waiting for a negative then like you said wanting to bleed then not etc so true I just want to ' get back on track' and not be paranoid about my health. I had a miscarriage late last year and it was so straight forward and clear cut stopped bleeding then a month later and so I was just not prepared for how complicated and stretched out it can be x
