Hello lovely ladies,

Just looking for some insight on a personal level rather than all the medical jargon I have been dealing with.

So this pregnancy was diagnosed as a blighted ovum and will be my 8th miscarriage. All others have passed naturally, but the doctors seem to think the sac may be stuck...

They have scanned me at 8 weeks, 9 weeks and 10 weeks, there is definitely no baby there.
A D&C was never the original plan, natural was. But as nothing was progressing I went back last week (at 10 weeks) to have 4xMistropol tablets.

We ended up speaking to a surgeon, along with midwives and a consultant and a long 3 hours of discussion a D&C was booked for the 5th Sept.

Anyway, aside from taking in the medical information, I'm just really anxious about going under a general anaesthetic - I know its a quick op, but has anyone on here had one, what was your recovery time like? How did you feel after and am I being an absolute loon for being so anxious?

To this day I have had no bleeding or cramps.
Any one go on to conceive after a D&C?
We've been checked for causes of miscarriage but after 3 years of tests, nothing has given a conclusive answer. Just two more tests left so even more cautious of going back to TTC after this experience

Any advice, stories are very welcomed. Xxxx

Umm I didn't get on so well with my surgical miscarriage - I had no choice but to have surgical as I lost the baby at 12+3 The operation was fine but I had to be at hospital a long while beforehand 7am for surgery at 3pm and in a mixed waiting area for day surgery (no beds just hanging around a waiting room with all and sundry in for knee ops and the like) so that was emotionally draining / difficult.

I had to have mediation to open my cervix and I think also to deal with inflammation and no one told me that this could have some pretty horrible side effects. So I went home after surgery fine about 7pm - but then spent hours on the toilet with awful diarrhoea to the extent that at 3am I had to go back in to hospital while they checked out no complications. I wouldn't have been so panicked if they had told me there may have been side effects ...

So ask the questions you need to, have support around you, as waiting can be grim and I am so so sorry for your loss ...
