Surgical management or medical?

Hi all,

I have the choice of going for the pill to bring on miscarriage or having an op on Wednesday. I'm really scared of the op but think probably better option. Can anyone advise?? I have to decide this morning so hope someone sees this

I’m so sorry for your loss, it’s horrible that you have to start making decisions when you’re going through something like this. I had the op and was really glad I did, it means it’s all over with in a day and with minimal pain. I’d been through a naturally occurring miscarriage before and it was very painful and messy.

I have unfortunately had 3 mc and chose surgery each time. Although I always panic about going into surgery for me i just couldn't stand the thought of taking pills and waiting for it to happen. With the surgery it is over in less than an hour and I have always been allowed home really quickly. I felt I had more control over the situation that way.

I've had 1 mmc and had the pill if I went through it again I'd go for the surgery. Sorry you're going through this.

@elizzza @plixy hello, just wondering how quickly you both went back to work (if you are working) after the op? I had the op on Weds and took 1 day off yesterday, but told work I'd go in today (Friday). My back is really achy and I don't physically feel that up to it but wondering if I just pull myself out of bed I'll feel better? Feel v guilty for missing another day. Did either of you return quickly?

@NewtothisFBK4921 I had the op on a Thursday so took the Friday and the weekend off and was physically okay by the Monday. To be honest though I wish I’d taken a bit longer for myself - I think I needed a bit longer to process it emotionally and I wasn’t great for a few weeks afterwards.

You’ve had an operation and GE, definitely don’t feel guilty about needing a second day in bed.
