Anyone at the start of their recurrent miscarriage testing and want to hold hands?

Had all my bloods taken today (private) results on the 14th is Jan and NHS RMC appointment on the 16th Jan. hoping they will accept results and plan from private tests to save money.

Blood tests today were thrombotic profile, NK cells, karyotyping, hormone profile, blood clotting, thyroid and vit D.

Already diagnosed with mild PCOS

Day 21 progesterone was 29

Three early miscarriages this year - all just before 6 weeks.

GP refused to prescribe progesterone

TTC on hold until after test results.

Would love to hear from others on the start of this journey

Hi Holly, I am in a very similar position. Three miscarriages this year before five weeks. Had a load of bloods done last week by my GP, not got all the results back yet but I did get an urgent phone call through as I am severely hypothyroid with a TSH of more than 60 (should be less than 2.5 in pregnancy). This explains my most recent loss but not my first two because I had my thyroid tested then too and it was a bit high but not high enough to be associated with a miscarriage risk.

Seeing NHS RMC in February which feels like an age away but it'll probably take at least until then for my thyroid to normalise anyway so we can't TTC until that is in the healthy range.

What are you doing to occupy your mind whilst you wait for results?

So sorry for what you’re both going through. I’ve been through the same thing and am under my RMC and currently pregnant. I don’t know if there’s anything I know or could help with but happy to answer any questions.

I’m in a very similar position....2 miscarriages this year post 8 weeks with heart beat found both times. Also 2 miscarriages last year. I’m waiting the results of blood tests and also the results of karyotyping.
It’s a horrible wait to find out the results...I’m 41 now..and time is not on my side. Also, my partner has just said he doesn’t want another child (he has 2 natural children).
Sorry no advice to occupy your mind. Mine is definitely in overdrive!
I just want to know some answers.

I'm so sorry for you all going through this horrid time.

We had a MMC back in Feb 2016 at 9 weeks, baby died only a few days before the scan. I had surgical management a few days later - I was devastated. We named her Emily.

Second MC was a natural MC very early on at around 4/5 weeks (not that that makes it any easier but I had literally only just found out). We conceived that one only a few weeks after we lost our first.

DP refused to try again after that, which plunged me into a very deep depression until he agreed to try again in June this year.

We lost our baby again at 9 weeks (+3 days). We saw a heartbeat a week before, but at every scan baby was shrinking so by our scan at 9+3 our baby was measuring less than 6 weeks. I had surgical management again.

Given we've now had the magic number of three, we have been referred to the RMC but like previous posters it's not until late February.
I've not been offered bloods by my GP, is that something I should be doing while we wait for our appointment?

Our baby (Popsy) has been sent to Guys & St. Thomas' for genetic testing/post mortem and I gather that can take up to 21 days so I will chase on Friday if we hear nothing before then.

@AnneLovesGilbertI've no idea what to expect at our consultation in Feb. What sort of things do they look for, test for?

I have PCOS and under-active thyroid, My thyroid is checked yearly and is always under control. In my last pregnancy I used progesterone and baby aspirin as prescribed by a private doctor, but they didn't work

I have two older DSs from my previous marriage and never ever had a MC in all those years of TTC. My two pregnancies were very healthy.
But I long to have a Rainbow with my DP, it will be his first baby.

I’ve been told that due to the PCOS I could do with losing a stone or two. I’ve been in the gym relentlessly for a month now working my butt off. Had one work Xmas lunch and put on a pound. It mad me so so so mad. I hate to be all wo is me about all this but It just all feel so unfair having to work so hard for a baby when others just blink and seen pregnant. Sorry, I know this is not exactly the positivity we all need but grrrrrrr

@Annelovesgilbert if you don’t mind sharing I would love to know what the RMC found for you, how long it took for results and what help, if any, for you to get pregnant this time. Also congrats!!

Your stories sound so familiar to me. I've had 3 early miscarriages in the last year, at 6, 4 and 5 weeks (although the 6 week one was a silent miscarriage that I didn't physically pass until medical management at 9+5). I have high TPO and TG antibodies, picked up on a private blood test (one of those online finger prick ones).

My situation is a little different in that I have a same sex partner, so have the added pressure of needing fertility treatment to conceive. I've had 3 cycles of IUI (resulting in 1 BFN and 2 miscarriages) and 1 cycle of IVF (resulting in miscarriage).

I've been referred to a rmc, there was a 14 week wait but I was lucky enough to get a cancellation so was seen very quickly. Having bloods done next week and pelvic ultrasound in a couple of weeks (although I've already had about 5000 ultrasounds so not expecting them to find anything much there).

@Holly5633 Do you mind me asking how much your private bloods cost? Particularly the karotyping and NK cells?

Hi All, I have my initial appointment on 19th March - I feel like it could have been earlier if my GP hadn't wasted time as I would be on my third period post my second miscarriage. I'm 40 and the consultant took pity on me and let me have the tests. Anyway, I just wanted to know how long you had to wait for the results? I'm following the plan with, 'It Starts With the Egg' and am hoping this will make all the difference. I've started reading, Is Your Body Baby Friendly?' but finding it overwhelming! I've decided I'm going to take baby aspirin and looking into progesterone too but will ask my doctor about the latter. How are you all getting prepared? Great to have a group in the same position! So frustrating that my friend and family can have babies when they feel like it!! Baby dust to all xxx

Hi all. After my third miscarriage two weeks ago, doctor has referred me to gynaecologist. No appt through as yet and contemplating a private appointment as know how long everything takes with GP. Am about 2 stone overweight, probably drank too much wins before pregnancy and 35. Anything I should be pushing for, asking for or any other advice would be gratefully received. I don't understand half the terminology used yet, though am sure I soon will. All of the information online about the tests don't fill me with much hope either, as it seems that in the vast majority of cases, they either find nothing or can't really do anything. All miscarriages have been around 9 weeks, no idea of that means anything or not.

Hi everyone just thought I'd update you all on my RMC experience. My GP had already done blood tests for thyroid, coeliac disease and antiphospholipid syndrome. My thyroid came back abnormal and I am now on treatment for that. I had a 3D ultrasound scan at the clinic which was also normal. My consultant said apart from the thyroid there's nothing to explain our losses. I felt a bit disappointed that she completely wrote off doing thrombophilia testing, any genetic tests or trying progesterone supplementation. She said she might consider genetic tests if we have 6 or 7 losses in total! Now trying to decide whether to carry on trying and see what happens or ask GP for a referral to a Tommy's clinic to get a second opinion.

Thanks for the update @strawberrye. Thyroid problems are a known cause so hopefully once that's treated things will work out for you. Interested to hear how you decide to move forward.

I have not been offered karotyping either (although I plan to ask about that) and I am only getting thrombophilia testing because I have enrolled in a clinical trial.

Do you mind me asking if you are being seen at your local RMC or a Tommy's centre? @TinyPaws

I do hope it is just the thyroid as that is now under control on medication but I just can't convince myself that it is as my TSH was within the normal non pregnant range for the first two of my losses.

I'm at Tommy's Birmingham. What was your TSH? I'm told it should be

I think it was 3.1 a couple of months before my first loss, 3.7 a month after my second loss and more than 60 shortly after my third loss. From what I've read there is no evidence for a increased rate of miscarriage if TSH is between 2.5 to 4, but there seems to be a lot of conflicting stuff out there

I have been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic but jsut wondering how long did it take for them to be in touch?

Me I had a missed miscarraige and a chemical pregnancy last year. My obgyn was useless and told me to wait so then saw a fertility specialist a couple of weeks ago and am going to for tests.

@Mochiface my appointment letter came through a couple of weeks after I was referred. There was a 10 week wait to actually be seen in clinic.
