I think I had a miscarriage last night

Hi people this is my first post on here, I only signed up like a week ago. Yesterday I was 8 weeks pregnant... the day before that I started bleeding and went to the doctors, they said it was a threatened miscarriage and didn’t really give me much information either way. So yesterday morning the bleeding settled down but in the evening it came back with pains like period pains. After a few hours of this when I was stood up I felt something coming out of me which I caught in a tissue. I don’t know how to describe it maybe like a giant clot (I didn’t want to post the pic in case it was too much) and since it came out the pain stopped but I’m still bleeding a bit. Have I lost my little bean? I haven’t stopped crying since so I think my body has accepted that I have but I can’t let go of the thought it might still be in there. Thanks for reading x

Hi OP, I'm sorry you're going through this. It sounds like it must be scary.

I'm not sure anyone can tell you what's happened though. Do you have an Early Pregnancy Unit near you?

Your GP should really send you to hospital for tests under the circumstances. When I was in a similar situation, they sent me for an internal scan. When that was inconclusive, they carried out blood tests to check the HCG levels.

I really hope things work out for you, OP.

ListenLinda · 04/11/2018 08:11

Ring your local hospital OP and see if they have an EPU. I had some bleeding last week and they were very good and thorough, they will look after you.

mumto2babyboys · 04/11/2018 08:12

There is a website were you can see real life miscarriages I'm not sure if that would help identify what you passed.

Have you got a epu clinic near you. You could call them and ask them to scan you urgently

Try not to rule it out unless you know for certain. I've had a miscarriage and it was so painful x

06carter · 04/11/2018 08:13

Thanks for replying i feel like I’m going mad. When I went the doctors they told me they would book me in for a scan at the EPU on Monday and I’m still waiting to hear about it but is there no point going now? I’m just desperate to know if this is the end but at the same time I’m too scared to find out for sure. This is my first pregnancy so I feel like I’ve got no idea what I’m doing.

No advice Flowers

oatmilk4breakfast · 04/11/2018 08:15

I’m so sorry this happened. It happened to me too exactly as you describe. I rang my local hospital early pregnancy unit and went for a scan I was 7 weeks at the time. 💐💐💐💐💐💐

oatmilk4breakfast · 04/11/2018 08:16

Sorry cross posted

mumto2babyboys · 04/11/2018 08:16

Call the epu they will let you come in straight away as they have to check for etopics and things like that when things go wrong.

Bring a book or someone with you as you might have a bit of a wait to get scanned but should let you know either way. They will also say bring anything you have passed in with you

Hope you are ok! X

I found it helpful to go. In my case they confirmed that I had had an early miscarriage. I found the confirmation helpful. But everyone is different. I cried so much. But tried again and got pregnant again one month later and my extraordinary little boy is nearly 4 now. It is so hard. And there’s no real ‘advice’ as unfortunately early losses are apparently common but I was devastated. (If it keeps happening though you may want to talk to GP?) I kept a notebook in which I talked out my thoughts to the little one and I couldn’t look at it until years later - quite recently. Sending warm wishes and lots of sympathy 💐💐💐💐 feel your pain - don’t let anyone minimise it

Can I go in today or just wait til tomorrow? Really don’t feel like leaving the house because every two minutes I’m involuntarily breaking down into tears I feel stupid. Doctor told me that if it was going to happen I could stay at home if I wanted, only thing is she didn’t really explain exactly what would happen. I’ve read so many things about what happens and I can relate to some of it but it doesn’t seem real.

Expect to have a massive hormone drop and feeling emotionally wrung out in the next few days if it is a miscarriage.

It's just the pregnancy hormones leaving your body but it can be overwhelming so be kind to yourself.

Roughly how big was it? I saw my own and it was shocking how clear it was to the see the outlines and tiny umbilical cord.

Such a shame if it is a miscarriage.

lots of people fall pregnant again straight after a miscarriage, it's extremely common, so if you are ttc being pregnant once makes it easier to conceive again x

mumto2babyboys · 04/11/2018 08:29

I think you should go today just for safety reasons and to Make sure there are no complications x

mumto2babyboys · 04/11/2018 08:30

Still birthday. Com

The website is. I found it helpful but others might not as it's so sad x

06carter · 04/11/2018 08:31

I’d say it was about 3cm long maybe the weird thing is it looked a bit like a vagina sorry if that sounds strange that’s the only was I can describe it to look like. I haven’t passed anything else since then only red blood but the pain has gone

Exactly same thing happened to me. I still remember that day and I screamed and cried m because I was terrified the worse has happened.

He is now 2 years old!

Just saying do not lose hope just yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and I really hope that little bean is still safe inside there. Lots of hugs and thinking of you x

Tahani · 04/11/2018 08:34

I had exactly the same at 14 weeks, I thought shit this is it, dc is now asleep in their room

Please make sure you get scanned before they do anything else

mumto2babyboys · 04/11/2018 08:38

Do you still feel pregnant?

Please go to epu as there are loads of possibilities it could be. Hopefully it's good news for you and hen you won't spend all weekend worrying x

06carter · 04/11/2018 08:40

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I’m a bit too scared to hold on to any hope to be honest. I woke up this morning and just didn’t feel pregnant any more after what happened, I don’t know if that’s because I’m really not or I’m just horrified from what came out. Really glad to hear about those who have gone on to have their little ones after similar things happening x

At my local epu you can't self refer and it's also not open at weekends. By all means call yours to check, but don't be surprised if they say your doctor has to refer you on Monday. It was also a 5 working day wait at mine, although I guess it depends on the severity of the situation.

06carter · 04/11/2018 09:02

I don’t think mine is either that’s why the doctor told me it would have to be Monday for a scan so I don’t think there’s really anything I can do. Worst part it I got my first midwife letter through the door a couple of hours before it happened. I don’t know if I can call her because it’s a Sunday

Oh sorry you didn’t get any replies to this - hope you got through day ok and if you go to epu tomorrow (today now!) then I really hope it’s the best news. But if it isn’t - virtual hug and remember you’re not alone. And as others have said being pregnant once indicates you can be pregnant again. Thinking of you. 💐

DriaWest26 · 08/11/2018 20:48

Hope there’s good news!
Sending lots of love and positivity your way 🌺

Ozziewozzie · 08/11/2018 20:58

Please take it from me, everyone is different. I had a miscarriage which was really tough, I haemorrhaged and ended up in resuss. Really rare apparently so don’t worry. The point is I got pregnant again, and at 10 weeks severe bleeding again with massive clots. It was awful, I assumed same thing was happening as last time. However at A&E, they scanned and baby was perfectly fine!! I couldn’t believe it. Dd now 7 mths old. I wouldn’t try and guess, I’d call epu tomorrow and ask for an early scan. It’s the only way you can tell. Lots of women have some bleeding. I hope so much it works out for you xxxx

06carter · 12/11/2018 09:26

Thanks everyone for replying to me. Had a nightmare of a time at the epu nobody had a clue what was going on and I had to keep telling people I thought I’d lost it. It was a miscarriage. X
