I miscarried at the beginning of June. I was about 10/11 weeks. My period returned yesterday and I am in a lot of pain. I am taking strong Co codomal for the pain but I'm so sore I'm being sick. My periods were always very heavy and difficult but this is another level. I'm cramping, sweating, feel sick, have a headache and I just can't stop crying. I'm very emotional. Is this normal?

Hello Pat,

I've just had my second misscarriage (I had an mva yesterday) my first was natural.

My first couple of periods were really quite bad after my first misscarriage and I'm expecting the same after this one.

From what the nurses told me last time and my surgeron repeated it yesterday, it's very normal for your first period (and possibly a few more after this one) to be more painful, heavy and last a bit longer than usual so please don't worry it's absolutely normal. I, like you have bad periods anyway so it was quite annoying for them to be even worse than usual and lasted 2 extra days.

Just remember it won't last for ever and it's totally normal, your body has went through a trauma and your hormones are still trying to get back to normal, I don't know if this part is true but I used to think of it as my womb giving it's self a good clean out.

I'm sorry you're going through a tough time but it will get easier.
