Have I miscarried? Didn't know I was pregnant

Hi everyone

Apologies in advance if this is TMI, it's just something i've never experienced before.

So I didn't plan to be pregnant and didn't know/think I was until last night after having a really heavy bright red period for the last week I think I miscarried. I've passed blood clots before but it didn't look like a normal one, it was slightly larger than the size of a bottle top, and when I had a poke round there were different colours to it. Parts looked dark red like a blood clot but then others were a light pink basically fleshy colour. I've been having odd period pains which feel more like a normal stomach ache but a lot lower down.

I've never had anything like this before so don't know if i'm just over thinking but I don't know what else it could be? I had unprotected sex once about 7 weeks ago but got the morning after pill the next day, however was horribly sick that night although it had been more than 12 hours so I thought it was okay, and i've been on the pill ever since.

I've got a doctors appointment booked to see whats going on, but any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

It's probably an early miscarriage. I had one once at 8 weeks. I had a pregnancy test (no kits in those days) and the day after I got the result (positive) I had a heavy period and it was gone. Still, better at this early stage than later when it could be problematic. You'll be fine.

If you want to know for sure then there would still be enough hcg in your system to show a positive result on a pregnancy test.

If it were me then I would take one to see, as there could be a chance that if it is a miscarriage, it could be incomplete and you would need a scan to check it’s all passed.
