Anyone needed 3 rounds of misoprotol

So I had a MMC at 6 weeks, found out early as had some pain. Anyway at that point opted for medical management (the two sets of pills) was obviously traumatic but relatively straight forward. Three weeks later still bleeding, went back and told there were retained products but given anti biopics and to wait and see, two weeks later still some products ‘stuck’. Yesterday I had a second dose of Misoprotol (6 weeks on from first dose), it’s not done anything, I’ve never stopped bleeding in the six weeks but although I’ve had slight cramping last night nothing more has passed. They said I can go back to hospital today for another dose (taken orally) but I’m wondering if there’s any point??

Anyone else been through this, I’m so fed up of it all. Mentally hard enough but to drag on like this is just horrendous...

Can they do surgery and remove the rest? Might be best at this point?

They won’t do surgery as it’s quite a small amount left (1.5cm diameter). I think anything under 2cm they won’t operate on but I’ve had the third dose now and still nothing much seems to be happening yet..I have some pain but no more bleeding.

Would it be worth looking up what the NICE guidelines might be? At some point they need to do something, they can't just leave you at risk of infection surely?

Another option could be to transfer to another hospital? Different trusts do it differently. I know in some the woman goes to have the pessaries or tablets and then goes home and waits, with others it's done differently.

I just went through this. I went in on the Tuesday and stayed for the day (my choice) had two rounds of the pessaries (misoprostil) and passed blood and clots but not the sac (I had an anembryonic pregnancy). I then came in 3 days later, had one round of pessaries and passed the sac in the afternoon with some more clots. I was given the option of surgery after it didn't work the first time, but I was measuring at 2.21 cm so slightly bigger.

So sorry you're going through this. ThanksBrew

Thank you. Wanted to update for others who might go through this. I opted for the next dose (orally) of tablets yesterday as I thought I may as well try before surgery and it seems to have worked / be working.

It’s so horrible obviously but today passed a few large ish clots, one was round and the sort of size they had said to expect so I think (hope) that’s it. I feel relieved although it has been the most awful few weeks.
